For who? Bieksa?
- BoTtLePoLiCe

ooooooo that would be good. There would be a hole with Lupul gone though so maybe for a top 6 forward.

I'd be hestitant to break up JVR/Kessel. Clarkson is a boat anchor for Kadri. And I put the Leafs chance at getting ROR at 0.2%. Although ROR would be the perfect player that the leafs need.

Thats why I said this is what I would like to see.

We definitely need a #2RW to play with Lupul and Kadri. What do you guys think of signing someone like Devin Setoguchi? He's still a UFA, has shown signs of being an effective offensive player in the past and may come cheap.....could be worth taking a chance on a one or two year deal.
- Phenom

I honestly think Santorelli could be that guy, he's basically this years Raymond. But I wouldn't oppose to sigining Devin for 1 year for cheap.

Agreed.

4th line needs to actually play hockey, or we'll see another late season collapse.
Not saying hat was the ony reason, but kessel and JVR being out if gas certainly didn't help late in the year

- Big_Lightnin

A few factors led to the collapse but the no 3rd or 4th line contributions in either ice time or scoring killed the Leafs almost every game down the stretch.

I think I'd like Lupul gone.
- Woderwick

I was really disappointed with his play last year. Did a bad job moviing puck into O zone or helping clear our zone.

And yet even with his time missing from the lineup, was the Leafs only secondary scoring besides Kadri. Getting rid of him for the sake of cap relief is a mistake.

Van Riemsdyk - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Stantorelli
Frattin - Holland - Clarkson
Komarov - Kontiola - Bodie
?

What I want is..

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Van Riemsdyk - ROR - Stantorelli
Frattin - Kadri - Clarkson
Komarov - Kontiola - Bodie

2nd line plays against the other teams 1st, kadri and frattin are good together

- BoTtLePoLiCe

After losing Stastny the Avs will get RoR locked up -they can't afford not to and they are in a good Cap situation. I'd love it too but I highly recommend giving up that dream.

For me I think your first lineup is what you see up front unless they can add a cheap UFA closer to camp or one of the Marlies makes the jump.

I'd like to see Franson moved for a dependable LH dman. Then we all need Carlyle to follow up on his suggestion that he would implement a better possession game.

Soft?
- Woderwick

the guy was a terror. not sure how someone with concussion issues can be labelled soft. soft is the guy who doesn't get concussed because he avoids contact like the plague.

Let's hope whatever assistants get hired can help with that. I mean, a 41% possession team? Yikes.

When Wilson coached the Leafs they were around 49%, if he had the goaltending and line up Carlyle has, I'd imagine he would have done better.

Santo definitely could be that guy. Just concerned about the consistency. Can he thrive in an offensive role for a long period? I think he is what Clarkson should be. The perfect 3rd liner.

Yup. You should look up Kadri/Lupuls numbers away from Clarkson and with him. They're quite........... different.

I think they move Boychuk. They had a bunch of guys step up on D last year after Seidenberg went down. Miller, Hamilton, Krug.

Sharpe's out there if the Leafs want to pay for a fwd. Boychuk or maybe Paul Martin are rumoured to be out there on D.

That line was one of the most feared in the league, offensively and physically.

Clarkson needs to start the season on the 2nd line. They need to give him an opportunity to find his mojo again.

Because if he doesn't, we are in real trouble.
