I wouldn't mind taking a chance on both MDZ & Markstrom... Both are young, and it's always nice to have depth..

Yup it's uncertain. Safe to assume Komarov will be in that role so maybe Kontiola gets paired with him and another grinding winger - maybe Clarkson or Frattin or even Bodie. I think they'll go with a third scoring line ...Holland, with maybe a Frattin or Santorelli or some Marlies.

Agreed. Just not sure how good Kontiola is defensively. I'd like to see Santorelli with Lupul/Kadri. Frattin with Holland. We need 3 lines that can score. We had no secondary scoring last season.

Just a guess but I think the "predictions" are a little light for Franson too. He's got to be closer to 3 or more I think. Plus they usually carry 3 popcorn eaters so conservatively I'm thinking the actually wiggle room is about 3 million. Wonder if he can use to pick up something useful still.

Chicago, Boston and maybe Pittsburgh have some work to do to clear some cap space. Sounds like Sharpe in Chicago ....Boychuk in Boston ...and maybe Martin in Pittsburgh might be moved to clear some space.

If Sharp is available, Leafs have to at least make a play for him. Players like that aren't available too often. He's signed for 3 more years.

10 mins/night of Bodie-Holland-Frattin or someone like that would do wonders for the Leafs ..as opposed to 2-3 mins of Mclaren-Orr and McLement.

the whole left side is soft and strictly offensive. MDZ is young, true, but he is the anti-thesis of what we need. Markstrom could be a solid choice however.

it's actually a shame since Lindros before all the concussions was ridiculous. He won the hart trophy his second year. If he played in this era with the lack of head shots he would be heads and shoulders the best player in the game.

We definitely need a #2RW to play with Lupul and Kadri. What do you guys think of signing someone like Devin Setoguchi? He's still a UFA, has shown signs of being an effective offensive player in the past and may come cheap.....could be worth taking a chance on a one or two year deal.

I'd be hestitant to break up JVR/Kessel. Clarkson is a boat anchor for Kadri. And I put the Leafs chance at getting ROR at 0.2%. Although ROR would be the perfect player that the leafs need.

4th line needs to actually play hockey, or we'll see another late season collapse.
Not saying hat was the ony reason, but kessel and JVR being out if gas certainly didn't help late in the year
