this year has been a tough one for the leafs.
players snubbing them, UFAs leaving, no trade clauses used to avoid the leafs sweater.
i wonder what it is? i know carlyle isnt exactly known as a player friendly coach.. maybe it has to do with that? - Dozzer

“That might mean we abandon the checking-line role for (some) games. We think we’re overtaxing Jay McClement, playing him way too much. It shows in our penalty killing and his ability to continue to provide energy. |

Does anyone know how the new broadcasting schedule is going to work for televised games this season? Normally, being in NB, I would have to purchase the Center Ice package in order to tune into the Leafs games, but this year, with a lot of games being aired on City TV, I'm wondering if it's really necessary to spend the $200 on Center Ice. I've also heard that Rogers is lifting the black outs on all the Sportsnet channels, has anyone heard this?
If there are no regional blackouts, and games are all aired on CBC, City, and Sportsnet, I would assume I don't need to buy the package - however the 1st game of the year is being aired on City (I do believe) and I'd hate to miss it simply because I didn't get Center Ice
Sorry this is off topic, I'm just curious to know if there are concrete answers on how games will be televised outside of the GTA
Thanks |

I woulda brought him back, with Holland/Santa as the 3rd line centers. |

The leafs dont need anymore overpriced UFA,s ,their kids get a shot this year.Let the chips fall where they may .Their top 6 wingers are still the best in the east ,they are going to score. A modest bump in growth of their young defense, and they should be able to compete in a very weak east |

ok consensus seems to be just over used.
its possible.
i think he would have still be useful for a cheap deal... no need to play him 17 mins this coming season.
oh well |

Haha, I'm one that believes he'll be much better away from Carlyle. Everyone scolded him for his turnovers but Franson is good at breakout passes and able to keep possession, only problem is his wingers were often eating pogo sticks at the other teams blue line. |

Conditioning must have been a but of an issue. He took more lazy penalties last year as well...another sign. |

I disagree. The NHL is changing and having a guy with almost no offensive abilities play a Centre position in your lineup is a problem. Why? Well, if the centre ahead of him in the depth chart is injured, you need him to step up.
McClement had the chance to step up and provide some offense, and failed. While doing so, he also failed at defense, which was supposed to be his specialty. |

Real reason we're pissed cuz he picked them... not just because he snubbed us.
Say-La-Vee. Let's move on.

Randy Carlyle is a good coach. He is better than most in the NHL despite his criticism lately. I can't see it being that. It's just most players are too much of a female dog to play in the biggest hockey market in the NHL. There is a lot of pressure playing for the leafs especially after last year. Most players aren't up for the challenge. It really pisses me off how much Canadians don't want to play in Toronto or for any Canadian city for that matter. It seems like Americans and Europeans have no problem playing in Canada but MOST not all Canadians can't play in Canada. |
