I think he will probably get around 60+ games. His whole career he's been in the West so I think moving to the East would benefit him and the Devils health wise.

So being drafted by the Sens and playing there till 2006 didn't happen?

As you can see, Havlat's production rate would have slotted him 2nd on the Devils last year. He'll play with Patrik Elias - and possibly Adam Henrique as well - in a scoring role next season so he will certainly have every opportunity to match that production.

If he does, he'll be well worth the gamble

Maybe. I don't know how often he'll be playing with more talent around him in NJ than he had in SJ.

As a Flyers fan I'm glad to see NJ pick up softer players like Havlat and Cammalleri. It was strength and boards play that helped NJ beat Philly in the playoffs... although Cammalleri has been known to come alive in the playoffs.

At the price maybe we get lucky. He played 81, 73 and 78 games from 08-09 to 10-11. I know the odds are against it. But even if he gives you some speed and possibly improvement in the shootout for 45 games it would be worth 1.5M anyway. He's only 33 so it's possible we get lucky in terms of his health.

And even if it doesn't work out, it didn't cost much to give it a try.

Which one will bring this lovely moment up?

Exactly signings like this are great. Not much risk and we could be rewarded nicely if Havlat can stay healthy and produce a little.

Never really asked you guys. What do you think of Gionta's 2 year, 1-way deal at 850k?

I think its just because we have too many forwards right now, but it looks like kind of a lot for his role on the team. I suppose we could always waive him at some point over these 2 years though.

It wasn't necessary to sign him, but Pete is a big fan of his work ethic so I think that's why he was brought back. I think it's a bit much as well but whatevs

I sorta want JJ to get one more legitimate shot at centering the 4th line this year before we declare him a Tedenby.

Yeah same. Unlike Teddy he actually plays two way hockey so he at least should be a 4th liner. possible 3rd line center. I don't get why he wasn't used more last year. Would of liked to see us only bring Carter back on the 4th line who isn't even signed and bring some new blood on the RW with JJ between them.

Damien Brunner had a great run last year, waiting to see him able to get some more oh-ffense going... If we need someone to punch a flyer, we''ve always got Cam Jannsen... And I like Gionta, from watching him play last year, he definitely is a hard worker

And on the topic of the Philadelphia faries... Didn't their captain do a tour with dancing burlesque or was he trying out for the deliverance remake? Either way we'll cover our asses around the team of "brotherly love"
