The Leafs have jack to offer for O'Reilly outside of Rielly, which I don't think will happen. So I sincerely doubt this trade rumour.

I agree with you. Which is why I doubt the Leafs get O'Reilly.

I agree. But the team needs to fold and give him what he wants, he holds all the leverage. Except, he loves playing for Roy and the coach loves his play.

Both sides want to do a deal, they will find an accommodation that works.

- spatso

I'm not sure I agree that he holds all the leverage. He's an RFA, the window for signing an offer sheet is today. If he doesn't sign one than he's at a wait and take what's given in arbitration. He can sign long term and get security and decent fair contract or wait until arbitration and take whatever is awarded on a short 1-2 year deal. But I agree with the rest, they need to lock him up long term and hammer out a deal that works. I sort of like the hard stance of Sakic and Roy towards contract values but it also sucks watching great players leave for nothing. I wouldn't of given stast 7mill but we can't continue that sort of asset management. Also to be in the contender talks were going to have to make some bigger risks and break away from the no ones makes more than 6million idea. Our moves should reflect our desire to compete with the top tier teams in the west. Maybe next year we'll go after the big fish FA's harder.

Nonis never met a trade involving a 2nd round pick he didn't like.

* Hearing the Leafs have a strong interest in working out a deal/offer sheeting Ryan O'Reilly.

Do the Leafs even have enough cap room to offer ROR a contract? Like they still have to ice a full team come opening day....

From a source...
"The Avalanche are very aggressively trying to lock up O'Reilly of course and would 99% match any offer sheet that Toronto puts their way, however there are some defensive options the Leafs could offer up in a trade.."

Honestly I doubt the Avs will lose both Statsny and ROR in the same offseason.

* Also hearing the Flames have made a trade offer to the Islanders for Josh Bailey...they aren't the only team interested..

If this trade isn't a multi-player trade involving Giordano going the other I don't see it happening.

* The Flyers are still talking to the Preds about a possible Lecavalier deal and according to one all places source have had discussions in the last 2 days with the Oilers about Brayden Cobourn...

Only way the Flyers rid themselves of Lecavalier is if they take more then a million in return off his salary for the rest of his contract.

* The Sharks are once again talking to Carolina...Cam Ward for Patrick Marleau is still possible...

Stalock and Niemi are miles better then Ward. They also don't have a $6.3 million cap hit. Plus Ward is usually injured half the year+. He's nothing more then DiPietro 2.0. Ward has not had a good season since he won the cup; and that was a very long time ago.

Do your research, the Leafs have tons of cap space, and a full roster as we speak (13.24m)

i don't think they have that much, with all of the qualifying offers they only have about 5-6m cap space

as good as a young player Rielly is, Avs would take a major step back if they don't get a guy who can plunk into their Roster and see instant results from. Still a lot of graining pains with him.

Roy and Sakic seem like they are patient when it comes to Dman, so he would probably sent down to the Minors to log big minutes with Bigras and Seimens instead of playing on the big club.

JVR would be riding shot gun with Duchene long term, thats the sort of trade/player they should target. Good young forward who is signed long term to a reasonable contract.

He was traded to Buffalo at the draft last year along with a second for Sekera. McBain wasn't even qualified by Buffalo this year. Canes won that trade hands down.

Same thing for Vincent Lecavalier
- Glak18

no one said he was inconsistent

people said his contract sucks, he's declining with age, and that he's an anchor to the players around him

not inconsistent

Ek's obviously just fishing for hits, but if the rumor was even 1% true, I think that both teams would have to consider it(obviously it could help both teams...Leafs get a centerman and Av's get a power forward who was on the US Olympic Team) The only thing that makes you wonder is how does ROR feel about staying in Colorado? It doesnt seem like that relationship is so good? Also I dont think it would be a 1 for 1 deal. A deal involving ROR and JVR would probably need tbe expanded?

Sorry but either your over-valuing what Coburn is or under-valuing Perron? Some Flyer fans want to ship out Coburn bc of his play but don't want to make a hockey trade for Perron ( which on a lousy Oiler team, produced large ). Now grant it, if you value more the D than O, then I can understand your point, but what type of return do u think you can get for Coburn? ( And I'm not doubting his value, just Perron would be a good get ).
- Ur Not Me

How Coburn is a #2/3 Dman where as Perron Top 6 forward. Coburn's value is greater than Perron's

I dont know straight up they are probably equal. possibly a slight edge to JVR.
so if anything i would probably go jvr for ROR and a 3rd (changes to a second if ROR signs for 3 years or longer)

ROR is a franchise player. The sky is the limit for this guy IMO.
- aybrowne

ROR isn't a franchise player. Doubt he'd have much success without Duchene feeding him the puck. I'd rank Landeskog, Mackinnon and Duchene all above on the depth charts.

Yea, but why just say TO has interest in ROR?

Be a man about it. Might as well by the " ZOMG ALL THE BEST PLAYERS IN EVERY WORLD ON LEAFS RADARZZZZZZ!!1!!111! LEBRONZZ AND MIKE TROUTZZ COULD BE LEAFS BY SUHNDAEZZZ" package.

I dont know if I would consider them even.... JVR was selected to US Olympic Team as one of the best 25 US Players....ROR is seen as a possible #1 but definitely strong #2 center (but has been playing mostly wing with Duchene) ...I see the edge going to JVR. I think they would be trading one teams need for the other's . Maybe JVR + Franson for ROR + Bigras or Siemens
