We've tried sending our young talent and draft picks for veterans......fail!

We tried sending draft picks for malcontent young players......fail!

We tried using veteran 3rd liners to boost our compete level.......fail!

The only thing that we haven't tried is bottoming out and drafting what we need.

You look at all of the teams with top end centres. They're successful. None of these players ever get to UFA status, because teams lock them up, long term. Once they get into their 30's, then you see them. By then, they're played out and are no longer first line players......see Brad and Mike Richards, Vinny Lecavalier, etc. You have to drop to the bottom and draft them! There is no other way!! Until we do, we'll just continue to spin our wheels and go nowhere. Better to take what we have and just play out the season and add at the draft. We can also barter at the trade deadline. This season is a washout. We'll be competing with Ottawa, for dead last in the east this year. Now is the time to get what we need. It will set us up for the next 20 years.
