REM? Really?

It was based on some real criminal lunatic in the early 80's. The guy thought he was speaking to aliens. I don't remember the deets.

Please ... don't say that ... I would have to agree. And that makes me want to cry, after all the joking and put downs I did on him before last season (and he deserved every one of the them).

I think sometimes these new comers feel they have to be part of the run n gun O the Hawks employ. Then they become something they are not. When Brookbank tried to be that mobile goal scoring D he continually put himself out of position. Once he settled in and played his own game... it worked. Plus he brings the nasty which we need. The ability to play on the lower lines also helps.

Ideally each D pair should have one of both. One guy be designated as the go to the net guy. That way the other D or free safety knows he has to stay back at all times.

It would be nice if he could just come CLOSE to winning a fight once ... just once ... though.

I think they would like another one. Most likely a righty is my guess. You can never have too many quality centers. Rozy will be a swing man 6/7. Most likely one of Leddy or Oduya will be moved. My hope is Leddy. They have a couple of guys who might be knocking on the door.
- Elbows15

The reason I ask is bc I think the Hawks still need to improve a little on the roster to become a more deeper team.

Right now Hawks have Teows/Hossa & Richards/Kane and Saad can be on either of those lines. Notice I left off Sharp.. hmmm

My outlook is this, with the talent you have, you can put almost anyone as the other F spot.
I thought of a trade scenario that could help/benefit both teams but not sure how'd it match up salary cap wise, but heres my trade....

CHI - Sharp & Leddy for

PITT - Sutter & Martin

Pitt can use the O and Chi gets much deeper & stronger in a tough western conference.

Exactly. So what, exactly, are you arguing about? If your argument held any water, he'd be centering the third line, no? Take a pill.
- Q...argh

I was responding to someone suggesting the trade of Kruger. You evidently think that in that case we'll just have Toews handle his duties as well just so we can have TT play a bottom 6 role. Sounds like a great idea.

Matt Martin from the isles would be a good pickup. That's what I'm hoping for. But he also isn't a center.

I think the salaries would end up being a wash. Sutter is a RFA and probably will want 3 to 3.5 a year if not more.
Heck..looking at Ptts roster, even a healthy Versteeg would be an improvement on some of their forwards.

I don't know if they will take Versteeg but that trade makes Chi much stronger on D & C for sure.
If all else fails, I could see Versteeg being dumped before season starts for late pick/picks

This is what I originally was responding to, you came to dpard's defense so I assumed that you agreed with his proposal:
With regin signed for the next year, kruger might be an option to move - he'll be looking for an uptick next year and he has not shown a scoring touch at all. Then TT could start at 3C and flip to 2C when Richards tires out at the end of the year. TT needs to get in the lineup next year -dpard

Nothing really, except a fourth center on the roster and some size. Need to move someone to get under the cap. About 1.3 over.

That'd be nice-ish for the Hawks, but I don't see how the Pens would want any part of it.

They just got rid of their shooter who was younger and cheaper so I'm not sure they'd be too interested in Sharp now. Pitt isn't going to give up their 3C when they've been wanting to strengthen that position since Staal left and Martin is their best defensive defensemen.

In 1986, Dan Rather was assaulted by 2 unknown assailants who supposedly said, 'what's the frequency Kenneth'. The actual goings on led to some questioning of Rather, as I don't believe the assailants were ever found and Rather wasn't harmed.

They lurk here. Anyone can take a screenshot. And I know for a fact that JJ has been in contact with at least one person there and they have talked.

Ideally, what they need is a center who can take FO and kill penalties to take some of the harder minutes away from Toews. That in itself will make them better.

It will free Toews to get a few more O zone starts.

- Elbows15

As far as I know, I'm good with them and vice versa. Bartl and I have talked and found we had a lot more common ground than we realized.

It's amazing what happens when you have an open, respectful dialog and look for common ground—instead of just looking to hate and attack on Twitter.

I have to block a few 12 year olds with too much time on their hands every couple of weeks. Twitter allows anonymous (both by choice and sheer lack of anything valid to contribute) people to take shots at people who actually add value. Probably my least favorite form of social media for that and other reasons. I also love people who want to debate finer points in 140 characters or less. Because that makes so much sense.

Anyway, all good. Thx Steve. And Elbows.

Why does he need to be in the line-up next year (I assume you jean 2014-15) instead of spending a real in a Rockford, learning the NA game, growing up, putting on some weight and strength?

How does Regin replace Kruger - not nearly as good defensively or on the PK, not nearly as good at the dot? Regin can be useful, but not as a replacement for Kruger.

Neal - brought in 2 pieces Hornquist & Spaling, grant it they're not Neal but that's a loss of goals. Pitt top 6 is Kunitz/Sid/Dupius & ???/Malkin/Hornquist

they have Goc to replace Sutter as 3C plus have to sign Spaling too.

Edit: Your right about Martin so then it might not be worth it to PITT...

Both of those guys have been a thorn in the side of the Hawks. Good riddance.

Hornqvist was a 20 goal scorer last year on the offensively challenged Preds, so he'll pot as many or more with Crosby or Malkin. The Pens won't have lost enough offense that they'll pay close to $6m for it when they only have like $7.3m in space for 5 spots. And they have high hopes that Beau Bennett is going to slot up in the top 6. Heck, Rutherford has also said that Kasperi Kapanen could make the team this year (that might be too much for the kid, though).

Also, Goc is not as good in the shutdown role as Sutter, so I doubt they'd want to downgrade in the middle for an unbalanced top 6. It's what has done them in the last handful of seasons - being too top heavy and focused on offensive rather than defense.

It's a nice thought, it was definitely benefit the Hawks. I just don't think PIT would make the deal and the Hawks would still need more cap relief.

I agree. Can't see Pitt moving either though. And the salaries being a wash makes the deal difficult from the Hawks end.

The thing with Versteeg is IF he is the player he was in the 2010 for the Hawks, it makes them pretty deep. He was less of a dangler and more of a straight ahead player. He still made the bonehead dipsy-doo at the blue lines at times. Just not as much. Also, he brought more physical play in those days. That is the guy the Hawks want and need.

I can see why guys like wiz and savvyone take vacations from this asylum.

Such a sewing circle at times.

That's right. Hawks organization is perfect. No problems. Guys are never traded or don't like each other. Just a well.oiled one goal machine. All their prospects will be hits and other teams will.just give away their talent for Kris Versteeg or rozsival

Good luck with that.

Been watching you fight the good fight but don't have the time or energy these days. BTW, I have confirmed your Shart information from a source I cannot reveal. Holy crap! Was even worse than I feared and was told his Chicago palace up for sale. Haven't had the time to check that out but am guessing it is if the story can be believed. Also explains why he was "benched" for some games during Sochi.

All I'll say is, if he does go, I hope it's for more than picks and promises. I had really hoped it would be for that 2nd line C but since Stanley picked up Richards without giving anything up, unlikely to see #8 moved for another player. If he goes, hope he lands in a good place. Will be the Hawks version of Lou Brock when it's all said and done.

I must be the only one here who doesn't have a source feeding him details about the Sharp scandal.

But it's nice of everyone to feed me bits and pieces, although I would rather someone actually stop acting superior and post the whole story.

But - that's just me feeling inadequate.

Sorry Sage, my comments weren't to appear superior at all, just to let SteveRain know his comments were validated by an independent source.

I have not heard or read the exact details I have and likely providing those would give away the source (and implicate others). I know the general story has been stated here. Gotta believe the story will break soon enough.
