C'mon, Mucks - you know Jerry Coleman was a 2nd baseman for the Yankees. - StLBravesFan

Before: all of those Series with Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Split time with Billy Martin.
Richardson was right after. |

In regards to your first point, the cap structure doesn't have as much to do with the overall "process" of free agency that I am talking about. Of course, it isn't as simple as fitting ___ amount of players under the cap as it is in the NHL or NFL, but as you stated, there are mid-level exceptions, etc. But it doesn't take away from the notion that the league is turning into a reactionary-league as opposed to proactive.
You make a great point about how individual players affect the game in the NBA more than the other sports, but simply put, that's exactly why it's bad (for fans) to have guys like LeBron, Wade, and Bosh forming their own big three in Miami (which could be LeBron, Anthony, and Wade if Bosh leaves btw), or the Lakers trying to form their big three when they acquired Paul (before the league vetoed it).
It's simply ridiculous how the NBA is run compared to the other sports. Yes it's a business and at the end of the NBA the objective is to make money, but the overall infatuation for the sport and the competitiveness is going downhill, and as a fan it disappoints me. - TommyHawk
It's a players league: players are in control.
For better or worse.
I fear Chicago is one of those cities that will never see another championship: it is not a viable destination for NBA superstars in free agency - too cold, not enough glamor, not enough hip-hop vibe. Anthony will wind up in NY or LA; James will wind up in LA or Miami (maybe Phoenix).

My Dad and I did go to a game or two up there every year (plus about 10 at Cubs Park) - always liked County Stadium - much more fun than Miller Field. |

Where the hell is Ogie? - Elbows15
Lurking. Checking in every now and then, but I gotta lot of poop going on right now. Plus, I find myself pining for the HB of yore...but alas that train has sailed.

County Stadium was cool and short enough so Aaron could hit 400 short home runs. |

And Mathews (although he didn't need short fences).
Those pennant winning teams (and they almost won four in a row) were excellent teams - power (Aaron, Mathews, Adcock, Crandall) and pitching(Spahn, Burdette, Buhl).
And - my initiation to great bratwurst. |

Great teams, Johnny Logan, Billy Bruton, Wes Covington, Andy Pafko. Red Schoendinst.
You have to go to Sheboygan for the great ones. |

Our 8th grade graduation outing was to see the Braves play the Pirates. Just so happened Harvey Haddix pitched the greatest game ever. |

Just kidding TommyHawk. The new CBA in the NBA is ruining that league. - Elbows15
The NBA's colllective bargaining agreement is awful...and no one talks about it.

Was listening on the radio - WTMJ.
Does he still get credit for a no hitter - under new rules, he wouldn't.

I don't know the answer to that. It wasn't only a no hitter is was a perfect game for 12 innings. |
