Luv it! Schultzie was a little like the Cartman of his day. Though I think he was more into chocolate strudel than pot pie.

A precursor to "Springtime for Hitler" - for a show about Nazis, it's notable the number of Jews in important roles:

Schultz (John Banner)
Klink (Werner Klemperer, whose father, an important German essayist, was killed in the camps)
Burkhalter (Leon Askin)
Schultz (John Banner)

Robert Clary, who played LeBeau, was a survivor.

Nah, Schultz didn't have a mean bone in his body. Cartman is an evil little Nazi.

True, really all they have in common is being big boned and an affinity for food.

Good stuff Sage! Didn't know that.

Used to watch HH as a kid with my grandfather who had immigrated from Germany. He loved that show.

Before anyone gets any ideas, he came over in the 20's. The Nazis were already coming to power and friends of his were disappearing (literally off the streets).

New thread? Topic: prospects. Or just to see some hockey. Scrimmages wed-fri. Camp started Sunday. Will be on lookout for roster. However, will let board determine what they want to say about the prospects. Cannot really discern much from the scrimmages. But it is exciting to see talent ....albeit young talent not close to wearing NHL sweater come opening night.

New kid on the block, the #1 this year, ought to be fun to watch.

My Prussian forebears came here to escape the Kaiser's police ... but for reasons I will not divulge.

In the camps I have attended over the years, only non AHL players. Most are the draft choices past few drafts, a lot from last draft. Always a few surprises, like an unknown swede, f/a collegiate, local collegiate, Chellios' son once I seem to recall.

Oh the agony and despair! The Russian who later went on to play AHL at Rockford. Looked so good. Described later as an energy line sort of player in a Tim Sassone review of the top prospects. He returned to Russia and has not been much in the KHL.

Taxi.

Think of the fight over who gets to be Reverend Jim:

[during a written driving test]
"Reverend Jim" Ignatowski: Pssssttt... what does the yellow light mean?
Bobby Wheeler: "Slow down."
"Reverend Jim" Ignatowski: What... does... the... yellow... light... mean?
Bobby Wheeler: "Slow down"!
"Reverend Jim" Ignatowski: Whaaaat... dooooeeees... theeeee... yeeeel-looowwww... liiiiight... meeeeaaan?
