Probably some 45 yr old in his moms basement, wearing nothing but boxers with cheetos stains all over them, and wanting people to follow him. - mdw7413

I personally don't get the desire for Eric Staal. In any other trade, we female dog and moan about the cap hit coming back and how it will effect the future of the team. Whether it be Thornton, the previous Stastny talks, any possible FA's, the Richards buyout, it all came back to cap management right?
Now I understand Staal is a proven #1 center who has produced at nearly a PPG average throughout his career, but to the idea of gutting our already thin farm system and giving up our few picks of value over the next few years, just so we have the right to female dog about Staal's 8.25 (frank)ing mil cap hit for the next few years..I'll take a pass |

we had the best record in the Eastern Conference that year - jimbro83
Yeah. I know. It's certainly a valid argument. I managed to watch every game that year (regular season and playoffs) and just remember there being a ton of games where I felt like they were lucky to have won because they were out played most of the game. I thought their record looked better than their performance. |

Agreed. Carolina would have to keep some cap which would drive the price even higher. Even then, the appeal for me would be to get Jordan as well but not with that dog of a contract he has.

there is no appeal to me whatsoever to turn us into the 2013-14 Carolina Hurricanes.

anybody wanna be the new Sparky?
http://hockeyjobs.nhl.com/teamwork/r.cfm?i=68155 - jimbro83
Outgoing personality
-Strong work ethic, good organization skill
-Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends.
-Good with kids
-Above average skating ability
-Maintaining a good physical condition.
- **Prior Mascot Experience Preferred
Duties include: Greeting fans, birthday parties, community events
I think I only qualify for 2 of those.
If being hammered in a Halloween outfit qualifies for "Prior mascot experience". Make it 3 |

I see there is more Evander Kane drama. Would a Stepan/Hags package get a deal done? If anyone wanted him, that is...

Even assuming that the Rangers wouldn't have the worst center ice core in the league if they made that trade, let's take a look at the numbers.
Stepan in 294 games, has 73 Goals, 124 Assists, 197 Points, and is a whopping +59 on a team that doesn't score much. His average point total over a 82 game season is 54.9.
Hagelin in 184 games, has 41 Goals, 54 Assists, 95 points, and is a +8. His average point total over a 82 game season is 42.3.
Kane in 324 games, has 99 Goals, 101 Assists, 200 points, and is a -9. His average point total over a 82 game season is 50.6, over 4 points worse that Stepan.
The reality is this. Kane has a name and a pedigree. He is an explosive player, sometimes, but he is not only less productive offensively than Derek Stepan, but has no where near the overall game that Stepan does. Couple that with the fact that both Stepan and Hagelin are model citizens, can both kill penalties, have winning pedigrees, and Kane is a self entitled malcontent, and that literally could be the worst trade the Rangers have ever made (or at least close to it).
