Stralman had 1 goal in the 100 plus games he played last year lol - TPC
When Stralman scores goal #2 this season we're gonna hear about how much better he is in Tampa than in NY, book it |

I think in about a two month span, Stralman has gone from one of the most underrated players in the league, to one of the most overrated. I am not sure I've seen anyone else accomplish that. |

I liked Stralman, he helped the Rangers down the stretch and in the playoffs. Can he sustain that over a 5 year contract? Time will tell. I agree with you, he was a fringe NHL player before coming to the Rangers. I think the system in New York played to his strengths mightily. He is a great positional player who blocks a lot of shots. The question is will his style fit in Tampa? There were times in the year where we all wanted him healthy scratched lol |

I already bought front row seats to the Kreider one. If Sather says anything bad in the hearing, mayhem might commence. |

He will, that's the name of the game with arbitration, its hard not to take it personally when your a player getting slagged by your GM but that's the process. |

It's not very often where you actually get to arbitration, so hopefully all these guys ended up signing something before they have to go through that process (maybe the day of).
For Kreider, you got a preview of what the organization will say through Slats' comments at the end of the year: Started the year in the minors, inconsistent, not reliable defensively, goes through prolonged stages of being invisible.
And Kreider's team will say: big game player, plays his best when the money is on the line, lightning fast and a bull in a china shop, rare combination of power, finesse, et.
Again, I hope it doesn't get there. |

Not a bad deal, 6 million cap hit could look real nice in a few years. |

It's easy, he left the Rangers and went to another team.
Fans, even analysts, around the league despise the Rangers. It is very rare, outside of this fan base, that a player gets his just credit for being a good hockey player.
Stralman, that he is on Tampa, is now looked at as one of the best signings of the summer. I wouldn't hold my breath on that notion. Wait until year three of his new deal before fans realize that he is a good player but not one to hand out guaranteed long term money to. |

Not when he sees all of those zeroes, in his paycheck, every two weeks.
Do you think most players care where they play as long as they are gainfully compensated, monetarily? |

So Pete, or anyone else want to explain what exactly the short version of the rules for arbitration are, and what happens if its excepted or not? |

It's based solely on corsi now...If your top 100 in the leauge the AAV is 6 mill...middle 300 it's 3 mill...301 and under you get a bag if peanuts and an Evian bottle of water
This btw was a hanging curveball for me couldn't resist |

Here is the way I understand it, if you get to arbitration, the arbitrators will set a number on the player on a one year deal (to be honest, I still don't know why Kreider is arbitration eligible, but I haven't take the time to understand). Once that number is set, its binding, unless the team decides to walk away (like the Rangers did with Zherdev years back). If the team walks away, the player becomes a UFA.
For Zucc and Brass, they would become Unrestricted Free Agents after next year, so there would be some obvious motivation for the Rangers to get them locked up before arbitration, rather than just accepting a one year number from the arbitrator, and having no recourse next year. |

The main positive is no offer sheets right? |

Yes, you are offer sheet proof, once the player elects to go to arbitration. Also, short of the team rejecting the award (which isn't going to happen with any of the Rangers next year), the players are pretty much locked into your roster after the hearings, which means no trading camp holdouts, with the exception of John Moore.
