Even assuming that the Rangers wouldn't have the worst center ice core in the league if they made that trade, let's take a look at the numbers.

Stepan in 294 games, has 73 Goals, 124 Assists, 197 Points, and is a whopping +59 on a team that doesn't score much. His average point total over a 82 game season is 54.9.

Hagelin in 184 games, has 41 Goals, 54 Assists, 95 points, and is a +8. His average point total over a 82 game season is 42.3.

Kane in 324 games, has 99 Goals, 101 Assists, 200 points, and is a -9. His average point total over a 82 game season is 50.6, over 4 points worse that Stepan.

The reality is this. Kane has a name and a pedigree. He is an explosive player, sometimes, but he is not only less productive offensively than Derek Stepan, but has no where near the overall game that Stepan does. Couple that with the fact that both Stepan and Hagelin are model citizens, can both kill penalties, have winning pedigrees, and Kane is a self entitled malcontent, and that literally could be the worst trade the Rangers have ever made (or at least close to it).

I say make it. Then Trade the farm for one of Staal or Thornton.

I see there is more Evander Kane drama. Would a Stepan/Hags package get a deal done? If anyone wanted him, that is...

Speaking of Winnipeg, what's the status on Burmistrov and what would it take to get his rights?

It could work. Would be anoher roster overhual and some young, fan favorites would have to go. but it could work.

I feel like Pete said, he's a name, but when you look at the numbers, they're really not that impressive & then you throw in that he's clearly got a wild side, iDK.

It's actually not that much work. Capgeek makes it pretty easy. Mames gave the Kane trade, the money is almost even. The Canes probably wouldn't eat any of Staal's cap hit. That team is and will always be a budget team. So the Rangers would to eat that themselves. But Nash and Staal together make 16+ million. Not enough money to around for Kreider and Zuccs.

Unless Kreider becomes a play making 2nd line center, he has to be traded along with Zuccs. No enough dough for all the bakers.

TPC is gonna be pissed.

If all that happened, I couldn't imagine being a fan next year. That would be disastrous.

I'd go so far as to say our 4th line of Carter-Moore-Glass would be better..certainly more intimidating which is an aspect our team lacks year after year. Bigger and tougher with more hitting would be lovely

Could the internal plan be to put Moore at number 3 center? If you think about it he's like a rabid dog out there so he could be capable of getting pucks and put St Louis and miller with him...

Hags-Stepan-Nash
Kreider-Brassard-Zucc
Miller-Moore-St Louis
Glass-Carter-Fast

This isn't awful..and look I didn't trade for staal either

I would probably move MSL up to the 1st and put Hagelin down with Moore & Miller.
