He did have a bad year last year. So did most of our D but that's another point.
He led the team in hits, and has a great shot, as well as being 6 5. I don't want to lose that, although all of that is worth very little if he can't actually defend.
But that said, I still have confidence in him.

i don't hate him either and he shoots right (pp, remember polak and robidas don't play pp) and he is 6'5 or whatever. he's not ancient either

he lead leafs d-men in scoring

that will be enough for him to get at least half of captain caveman's contract

- Dozzer

But tied for 4th in ES points, and that tie is with a super low minute 19 year old rookie. Not to mention he got yanked often on the PP towards the end of the year with Dion in favor of Gardiner.

Cody's only positive is 33 points on the year, leading the team.

His negatives are -20, his TOI increase was solely due to increased PK work from 2012, yet his ES numbers were way down from that year, only Leaf with over 50% of points coming from PP, above mentioned ES point totals, etc., etc.

There's lots of negatives.

I lead my men's league in scoring, but we're totally poop.

Nothing to be proud of.

I bet you don't feel that way when defending phaneufs value?

He was second on the team on Corsi. And led the D in scoring. He will get more than 3 in Arb.

The evidence that can be used in arbitration cases:
The player's "overall performance" including statistics in all previous seasons.
Injuries, illnesses and the number of games played.
The player's length of service with the team and in the NHL.
The player's "overall contribution" to the team's success or failure.
The player's "special qualities of leadership or public appeal."
The performance and salary of any player alleged to be "comparable" to the player in the dispute.

Evidence that is not admissible:
The salary and performance of a "comparable" player who signed a contract as an unrestricted free agent.
Testimonials, video and media reports.
The financial state of the team.
The salary cap and the state of the team's payroll.

- LeafMan

seriously, how are you supposed to talk about a guy's contribution, without using video to back it up?

If we do keep him, he's going to need to be a lot better defensively, I don't know what happened last year, he wasn't nearly as bad defensively the year before. Maybe we gave him too much responsibility?
Obviously he is better than most bottom pairing D offensively, but maybe that's his ceiling defensively? I can't tell if he's a second pairing guy or a third pairing guy.

In all arbitration hearings so far, Corsi and Fenwick are not used by the teams or players, it really is not accepted.

Franson is worth about 3-3.5 and phaneuf is twice the Defenseman.

The thought is that after the RFAs are signed, we have between 4-5M space left.

Your mens league team is not the NHL, he was the best OFD production wise on a team which is supposedly bursting from the seams with OFD.
