You know it is more about Team Defense than our D playing better..
Just sayin. If the forward group could even spell defense, the d core would be vastly improved.
It is team d that wins.. - bixll
depends...forwards can't help Gardiner lift weights..he needs to do that by himself..he needs to be able to fight off defenders once and a while...and no forward can help Franson when the other team blows by him..I know we need help getting out of our end but the D need to help themselves the odd time too. |

As much as we hate Franson, his award will be 3.5 plus which the Leafs cannot walk away from, no way in hell he gets 2.450, that is not the going rate for defenceman with his stats.
The Leafs cannot take the gamble of him getting to arbitration. - LeafMan
You're underestimating the -20. That's horrific for a D in arbitration. Not to mention his PPG took a major hit from the previous year. 2.45m might be low, I'll agree, but he won't see over 3m. |

Just my guess but I think he gets about 3. His priority is a 1 yr deal so he can "finally" get to UFA.
And I thought the rule was that they can walk away from any award Over 3.5 milly? If it's less than 3.5 they are stuck, no? |

Can't take the chance, he has to be traded before he goes in front of an arbitrator. |

Lift weights.. I was ridiculed in here the other day for teasing the Bennett kid for not being able to do 1 chin up... I would not bring up fitness in here.. |

i totally hear ya but some athletes are lazy. I played with a guy in junior who was by far our best player. Coach used to get on him about working out. He'd always respond:
"i've never seen a barbell score a goal coach".
Gardiner strikes me as this; super talented but not motivated. I like his game but it's all talent whereas Reilly puts in the effort on and off the ice you can tell. |

I think Nonohan offered a firm 1 year and refused to go to 2 years. Sens "win". Right choice IMHO.
And yes I agree I think RC will get to keep one of Orr/McLaren in the pressbox. |

i bet he gets $4 mil minimum. His offensive numbers would justify that alone based on some of the looney tunes deals other d have signed |

She did wonders for Hartnell, in Philly.
Maybe if Franson hadn't held out, she'd have had a chance to work with him?

Does it seem strange to anyone else that Grabo's cap hit is only 500 K less than what Tavares makes , and in 2017-2018 their salaries are exactly the same 6 million . I find this mind boggling. |

problem is we are paying Clarkson 2nd line money
I agree need a second liner ,but it would be a slap in the face to make less money and Clarkson playing on the second line with Clarkson being on the 3rd line - Adam_The_Golf
its about winning though not worrying about clarkson being paid more. |
