depends...forwards can't help Gardiner lift weights..he needs to do that by himself..he needs to be able to fight off defenders once and a while...and no forward can help Franson when the other team blows by him..I know we need help getting out of our end but the D need to help themselves the odd time too.

i totally hear ya but some athletes are lazy. I played with a guy in junior who was by far our best player. Coach used to get on him about working out. He'd always respond:

"i've never seen a barbell score a goal coach".

Gardiner strikes me as this; super talented but not motivated. I like his game but it's all talent whereas Reilly puts in the effort on and off the ice you can tell.
