Its Funny, before this past season started everyone was freaking out that he wasn't signed and how he was one of our best defenceman, and we needed him.
Oh the change of thought process that takes place over 82 games is quite hilarious. Franson is by no means a "great defenceman" but he can certainly be effective in a certain role especially on the power play, and is also pretty good at boxing players out, but please lets dump on him as clearly he's the problem not the coach who can't operate a toaster. - Steeltownleafs
couldn't believe all the people who thought he should replace Phaneuf/

Tying into a contract with him removes Percy and Granberg from the picture coming up. Imo - LeafMan
I have no problem moving him, I just don't understand the attention span people have towards him, one minute he's great, next boooo!
We no longer have a need for him but he's not terrible as some would lead you to believe.
Until the coach is changed it won't matter who you bring in as the team under his "leadership" is doomed to fail |

They've moved poop in and out on the D corps, but at the end of the day, it's still poop.
So unless Robidas can mesh well with Dion, I fail to see how we have taken a great leap forward.
Oh well. I'll still be there on opening night. |

I'm betting is mostly due to the anticipation and excitement his play in the playoffs gave people, thinking he was now hitting his prime.
Of course last season showed that was the exception, not the rule, as his defensive deficiencies are glaring for a going-on-27 year old, and frankly, his ice time now just takes away from younger and better players. |

People assuming that the Kontiola signing won't amount to much. Even if it doesn't then you move on, but give the guy a chance to fail. Same can be said for Polak, Robidas, and Santorelli. It seems like most people are conceding a poor season even though there will be a pretty significant roster overhaul, not to mention the natural progression of our younger players.
Some people seem pretty upset that we missed out on Stastny, his contract would have screwed us when Kadri and Bernier are both set to make 5mil each. I think Nonis an co. have done well so far, not pigeonholing us with any new contacts. I don't expect everyone to agree, this site would be no fun if they did. Yet the sky seems to be falling for a lot of Leaf fans even though the season is 3 months away. |

Don't know. I think some is on ice, but most is off ice stuff - diet and cooking, media awareness and conditioning.
There link I saw didn't say anything about that, but did mention media availability of the players.
