some players garner serious hate on here. Franson isn't perfect, but come on, top 5 in hits, great playoffs, as bad as he was defensively he still gets points. Last year a nightmare.
But do you honestly think he can never turn it around? i remember tons of ppl on here claiming he could replace Dion's minutes. That was hillarious, but i still think franson has tools. People on here want del zotto. Are you kidding me? Not much younger, all offense, terrible D and not a right shot/6'5/decent hitter.
Just my 2 cents - clark_griswold
Del Zotto would look even worse here. He's a guy I think a team will take later on in the summer if he wants to play. he's a bit of a project for any team to pick him up. Leafs don't need a project.
As for Franson I was not one who thought he would replace Dion's minutes. I do remember though that everyone wanted to trade Dion as Franson was for sure his better replacement. |

Franson has his role: bottom pairing(paired with a strong defensive guy), 2nd pp howitzer.
Anything more, his terrible skating is exposed, and better PKers can force him to cough up the puck at the point just by looking at him funny. |

franson is a slow skating offensive d-man.. has a snap shot and thats it
the reson he heas so many hits is because he gives the puck away so absurdly much that he hits the guy right after him.. its more of a grazing as the guy skates by him but i guess thats a hit at the ACC
hits are counted different in each arena.. its not a good stat to go by.
a defenseman who cannot play defense is no use at all. |

i think could/should be 1st PP to give dion a rest...plus Dion can't hit the net.
and what you described is MDZ with zero hitting. |

People keep saying he's a great hitter but I can't think of him rocking anyone. - Bigzby
he coughs up the puck and grazes the guy as he skates by
the ACC is very generous with their hit counts
toronto finished third overall
in the playoffs.. thats how generous the ACC is with ht count |

Yeah, I have beer.
I could position myself to buy alot of beer so it will last me quite sometime if I drink at the right times and in moderation and have some left when I really need it - Burke.
or
I could go on a completely thoughtless bender, drink all the beer in the fridge in one night, then whine & blame everyone else in the morning as to why I'm not only dry but hungover as (frank) too. - Nonis

He doesn't fit the style of our new bottom six. Our bottom six can all pretty much slide up and down the line up and add scoring.
Nonahan had to sever the bond between RC and JM. It HAD to be done. |

I'd have no problem with him on the bottom pairing. The problem is the guy thinks of himself as a #1 dman and he wants to be paid like it. Good riddance. |

I get he was top 5 in hits, but honestly, did you see any? The guy doesn't hit and consistently chases guys in the defensive zone. I don't know how determines what a hit is, but I didn't see franson hit anyone last year. |

not at that money anyways
