It looks like Ottawa is gonna have a gritty team next season, mixed in with some skilled kids. It should be fun to watch as long as they show up every game to play for a full 60 mins. |

and then you signed Clarkson instead of him. - Sensfanlifer
We were better the second we let him walk.

Yeah, but on the other hand we had an insanely low shooting percentage and lost our three best offensive players. Oh, and Anderson got injured too - Mr_Clean
Those offensive players haven't come back, though. |

We'll said. I still worry about the experience factor but they have oodles of grit/character(Yost's kryptonite).
When they lost Gonchar and Alfie they lost two stabalizers. Spezza was never that. They will miss his game breaking abilities but where is line lacked was its cohesion with the rest of the team. I loved Spezza but if I have to be honest with myself I know he didn't fit in with Macs system.
Legwand is a great add. Speed, grit and can finish from time to time. |

Offensive role where?
In Nashville?
And on Detroits 4th line? - puckhead17
Pretty sure he was Nashville's top line C, scary as that is.
That's why he put up 40 points in 60 games there, and only 11 in the remaining games in Detroit. |

I wouldn't agree with that. He's a decent player. I'd say he's pretty much ideal for the third line. Works hard, does his job. Will never generate much offense, but doesn't drag it down either. Won't cause lots of goals against, but isn't about to prevent them either. When needed, he can be brought up to play on the second line, in case of injury. He won't make it better, but can feed off his linemates.
He is what he is. A good third liner that can feed off his linemates. Will never make them better, but just does his job. And honestly, his salary is probably in line with that, these days.
Saying the Leafs were better the minute he left is false. He'd be great for the third line again. |

Umm, no. Well michalek (a diminished version) and Karlsson have... I'm talking about the shortened season.
And we added Ryan... And Turris is better.
Just saying, it's easy to say the only reason we made it was ridiculous goaltending, but really average goaltending would have probably squeaked us in last year, so... I guess I don't understand your argument?

To me, just yammering. Let's judge the finished product of the offseason first shall we.
Too much "cart before the horse" mentality these days. |

Legwand is a steal at 3 mill especially when you look a some of hefty deals being dolled out .

Different roles=different results. Makes sense.
Also some players adjust slowly in new systems especially thrown in mid season.
He will fit right in Mac's system like a glove. I think Sens fans will be very satisfied with the acquisition. |

We aren't winning the Cup now or in the forseeable future and the D corps behind the lads is suddenly embarassingly thin. For that reason, I don't see it possible how Murray could move Karlsson, Ceci, Cowen or Wiercioch. It would be irresponsible. They have to be given minutes and big ones in order to find out what they are. Poor Cowen has already assumed the whipping boy that Ottawa requires out of every line-up annually. Strange town.
I liked that lineup that was in there and would roll the dice hard on Peumpel beforew looking elsewhere. He's the same draft and first round pick as Zbad, give him a whirl. 3rd line could be Dzurzinski too.
I'm ok with Legwand, not too long, not too much money so lets see what we have. It also should take us out of Stupidville population Lecavalier.

Exactly Ottawa is trying to make a team that is harder to play against, compared to what last seasons team was. As good as we were offensively, we were bad defensively, and the team was very easy to play against. |

For those missing Fisher, focus on Lazar. He is not Monaghan or any other offensively gifted kid, he's Mike Fisher. Good guy, hard worker, checker, clutch but won't grab us 20+ per season forget it. Reset the expectations. If I can get Fisher out of Curtis I'll be a happy fan. |

Somebody said they did great in the shortened season, and they should be able to make the playoffs based on that.
I said it was because of unsustainable goaltending numbers.
That's all. |

IF! that is what he becomes I would be ok with that. Fisher had a great work ethic and it rubbed off on those around him in Ottawa, as well as his ability to be a good leader. He was never a elite player but I knew when he was on the ice. |

i agree with this for the most part, but I think lazar has a little better offensive touch than fisher...but overal i think thats a good comparison |
