Remember when I posted that we were short on roster players that had legit NHL experience? Well this move addresses that. Hopefully Legwand can help mentor some of the young guys. He can still play, but we shouldn't be expecting big numbers. Perennial 40 point guy. He should provide relief for Turris and Zibby. Not a bad signing overall. |

really?!?!?!
that's a very reasonable deal, for someone who could be a very good 3rd line center.
now trade greening for a pick
move smith/gryba for leddy
extend ryan
call it a day - sensarmy_11
Trading Gryba would be a scum move. He was just handed a 2 year contract, he isn't going anywhere. Out our defensive group, Wiercioch and Boro are the only ones that I think the org. is willing to move. IT BETTER NOT BE WIERCIOCH. |

I think he'll be perfect on the 3rd line, coming from nashville system, very good 2-way forward with some solid offensive upside (relatively speaking) - sensarmy_11
yeah as long as hes used in the right role...good term and pretty cheap money...i guess im happy with this
i heeaarrdd a ryan extension is coming soon...i have no connections with the sens...but i have one of those one off connections and he intends to stay in ottawa...so fingers crossed it gets done and announced sooner than later |

The only way Van gets Ryan is if they manage to trade back for Kesler and Luongo, and bring back Tortorella to coach them. |

i honestly have no idea if I like this signing...he seems to have been mostly terrible the last year or so?
i dont know..im gonna have to wait and see on this...i guess hes a capable 3rd line center? im assuming thats gonna be his role...or first line center with neil and greening is probably more likely - TheMike12
i see where you are coming from, but im ok with this ONLY because its short term. long term it makes no sense to me.
we can roll turis, zib, legwand, and smith down the middle. i think it also takes a little pressure of zib; he might have some turris growing pains this year as he adapts to the top 6 center role (which is totally normal) |

I like the Legwand signing, I guess one of the defenseman is going to be moved for a pick or a prospect now, or packaged with a winger for an upgrade on the wing. |

I'm just saying the whole premise of sign-trade has never looked good. It makes the team look desperate. I'd trade Boro before Gryba but that's just IMO. |

i can't help but feel a big trade might be in the works... not that i hvae any inside info or anything... but just a hunch. wondering why murray would be talking so much about a trade if it was a minor one, u know? |

Well signing Legwand shores up our C depth now. Hopefully he can stay healthy. I am surprised we got him for a half decent price considering the amount of ridiculous money being thrown around.

come on now, you guys clinched 9th already....we'll be 8th....or last. - sensarmy_11
If Anderson/Lehner have strong years, I see a senators team that's not quite good enough for the playoffs, but not quite good enough for a lottery pick.
Perfect. |

No trade, don't assume Cowen and Methot are safe. |

if anderson and lehner have strong years....in a weak ass eastern conference.....ottawa likely is a playoff team.
if they struggle, ottawa could easily be a lottery team.
i could see a variety of scenarios playing out with this team. |

With Legwand signed, now the Hawks/Ottawa can do their trade:
Sharp & Leddy
for
Smith, Greening, & Lazar |

i could get on board with a trade for either, depending on the return.
have you heard anything about the ryan extension? you seemed pretty confident it would be done on 1 july |

Legwand at 3 million a year is good - our center depth is now pretty decent.
Not a great team but decent depth everywhere |

it's not happening man.......we pretty much covered this ad nauseum the last couple of days.
sharp is a great player, ottawa doesn't need him, won't give up their best prospect for him.
and i swear spatso, if you start up again........... |

If he moves Cowen I hope it's for a decent return. He was dog poop last year but still, there is potential there. |

LAZAR IS GOD. Maybe we're overrating him (we're not, but you can think that way) but he is amazing. |
