- senstroll

You're telling me playing Orr/FML over D'Amigo/Holland wasn't his choice? We wasted a 2nd round pick on Holland who barely played 10 mins a night WHEN he did play, which was also rare.
- peddy-93

agreed .. that's the one that bothers me the most from the past season... because I thought Holland was starting to get into some kind of grove when the injuries to Balland and Bozak happened - I believe he was playing with Lupul and Raymond mostly.

THe kid can skate and generally makes smart plays... so - of course you demote him to the fourth line at 4 minutes a night ..

Player management was something Caryle failed at last season, I believe he was told to make sure he corrects that this season.
- LeafMan

That was probably the main reason our team went to the poops, he overused some players which near the end of the season ran out of gas. And then used players who he doesnt even trust on the 4th line and plays them 2 mins a night. I mean, I don't really get it.

no doubt
we didn't miss much on this years crop of fa so i don't see what people here are so upset about.

- Sammich

They were pretty much complaining that they couldn't complain about overpaying guys, but guaranteeing that we'd overpay for other, worse guys, because we hadn't overpaid yet.

It was bizarre.

oh I agree, just not to sure it was all RC all the time, some things are out of his control, but ya he did favour those 2 a bit
- PinkSock

And his 4th line worked great the year before. He's just guilty of sticking with it too long.

Not sure, I know he wants to get paid more than his Q/O. But I'm sure he's at least hoping he gets traded.
- peddy-93

Both sides know he'll be awarded more than the Leafs want to pay him.

I agree. Just silly how Carlyle misused Holland.
- Aaron_85

Im a Huge Holland fan, and I agree, kid was amazing for the Marlies in the play offs, tbh I think hes gonna be a great 2 way C capable of 40 - 50 pts if played in the right situation/gets minutes

I know Glennie's looking like a bit of a bust, but I can't see us getting him for Reimer. That would be a fantastic move.
- Feeling Glucky?

this is exactly the kind of player that the Red Wings pick off for a late round pick... put in the minors for one year... get them in their system and turn into a really useful player for years.

clearly Glennie ain't getting a top 6 spot with the Stars any time soon...

He even had a brief stint with D'Amigo and they were very good together, but of course he had to demote Holland, scratch D'Amigo and bring back the facepunchers.

Honestly, last thing we want to do is get rid of people but it is really bothering posters. What else to do than say, lighten up a bit and that goes for me as well with the Phaneuf talk, which I will do. Make it a bit more fun to come around here.

They need some fresh minds with the ability to be the buffer between the team and Carlyle - I would imagine there will be an "ex-player" type and an "up and coming" minor league coach named to the squad. 24/7 showed that Randy, while wienerly, is too old school and vague when it comes to his critiques, motivation and game plan. Especially in comaprison to Babcock who is leaps and bounds the better modern day NHL coach.
- Deeps27

Hiring ex head coaches as assistants seems dangerous to me. Can open the door for too many varying, strong opinions on systems, players and play - creating a dysfunctional, divided coaching staff. Can get to the point where no one can make a decision without conferring with 5 different views. Hire guys who can actually teach and accept the head coach as the voice of the coaching staff, and get on the same page. Shanny and Nonis should be the only guys who challenge Carlyle.

I believe it worked the year prior 'cause the big boys went out the first few shifts and hit everything that moved... or tried to. That lead to fights in the second have of the first period and early second... set the tone for the game.... cleared the ice for the Kessel's and Kadri's to work.

This was an example of mismanagement, he already played enough games for the 2nd rounder to kick in, he was playing well, let him play, he was really good with the Marlies in the playoffs, showed great hands. There were others to remove from the lineup to make room for him.

good idea... but you can only do that when Augello posts a article entitled ... "Is Bozak really a #3 Center and why Jake Gardiner should be waived"

it was troubling to watch esp after they jettisoned Colborne out for a 5th
