Stastny and Vanek are big pay days, but relatively short terms and they have a high likelihood of producing well. Not the best value, but decent value.

Nick Leddy is a good comparable to Jake Gardiner.
$3,400,000 next season. He's 23 as well.

He signed for 2 + 3.4 over 2 years. So AAV of 2.7. His cup ring probably helped a bit though.
Kulikov was 2 + 3 over 2 years.
Pernell was 2 + 3.75 over 2 years.
I think Gardiner might be closer to Kulikov then PK and Leddy. Maybe ... |
