How's Leddy defensively?
- Feeling Glucky?

He's "ok". A good number 4.

Nick Leddy is a good comparable to Jake Gardiner.

$3,400,000 next season. He's 23 as well.

- Pecafan Fan

They also have Kadri and Bernier coming up next season, so these one year deals will help. They need to leave a little wiggle room.

So what's the deal on Santorelli?

4th in ESTOI/G last year for the Canucks. A little bit of PK time, a little bit of PP time.

Doesn't seem so bad.

Seems pretty good for $1.5 million.

What am I missing?

Going to be a bridge like Kadri got and he only got 2.5 on his and i like Gards will get less.
- Yeti1181

Kadri had what? 50 games of experience in the NHL when he signed his bridge deal?

Gardiner is at 167. And he's putting up decent offensive numbers.

Seems like there has been some interest in franson so I think he gets traded.
- Yeti1181

More importantly, the Leafs have no interest in Franson.

He was junk for most of the season, only really turned it up near the end.

True but forwards generally make more money so I took that into consideration as well.

Is that why they stapled him to the bench both playoffs and went with stalwarts like Rozsival and Oduya ahead of him? He blows chunks defensively, just like Gardinorr.

pretty sure Kadri was over 100 as well.

Ok, lets say Gardiner gets 2.5-3, that's still 9.5-10M the Leafs have to play with.

Not bad at all, IMO.

If Kadri keeps pace with his development and nets 60 points this year he's going to get a deal with a 5 in it. Term and dollar.

- Yeti1181

Is there really that much of a difference between what a UFA gets and what a RFA gets, though?

Hang on a sec - my phone is ringing...

Sorry 'bout that - PK Subban just called me - apparently there is a huge difference.

Term is important. Lock the kid up.
