Nylander bizarrely makes the team out of training camp. Plays LW with Holland and Frattin

Negative as in the team is not good. Not negative as in name calling etc. Last year you were the one calling to tank; were you negative? I disagreed and thought we could keep slowly improving. I get that every season is a new one and flukes happen (random teams make the playoffs) but the odds of us being improved seems remote.

If a big trade or signing was made; OK. But frattin and komarov seem like saviors on here when to me they are good/solid 4th liners.

- clark_griswold

If they are good solid 4th liners then they're an improvement on Orr and McLaren.

12.7m* for a 2RW, a 4LW, a 3LD, a 13F, a 7D and a backup goaltender.

(Assumes burying Orr, 2.75m cap to Gardiner, 800k cap to Holland)

- mcleafs

We can do that for 10 million.

4-5 on 2RW, what do we do here? Heatley? Setoguchi? we're running out of options. (frank)ing alfie?

Frattin/ashton on 4th, add a centre. Maybe get Winnick for the 4th as well. Use ashton as 13F.

LD, I say we go for JO or Salo

7D... not sure yet.

I think its time for a 3 point regulation, 2 point overtime, 1 point shoot out win.
- CanadianBodmon

Wont happen. The League loves this illusion of parity they have right now. If they went to a system like that there would be a massive difference the top of the league and the bottom feeders.

What are our lines at?

JVR-Bozak-Kessel
Lupul-Kadri-Clarkson
???-Holland-Frattin
???-Komarov-Kontiola

LW options: Leivo, Orr, Ashton, McKegg aaaand Free Agents.

I like Leivo but that 3rd line would be verrrry green.

What's left out there to play a 3rd line winger role?

- markmark

If possible, try getting a 2LW via trade and demote Clarkson to 3rd line, he was an anchor to Kadri/Lupul and brought down their production big time.

I guarantee you can't find a three month span they won only 5 games in.

Unless you include the summer?

That would be a mistake, I know he's played with men, but he needs to get just a bit bigger. Maybe a 9 game trial but then send him to the Marlies. And having him playing with RC as coach is a big no no.

I dont know, there were a lot of instances where Tokarski made huge saves to keep the Habs in it..
- peddy-93

oh the kid has a future.. no question.. i am not saying that at all.. but price would of brought stability to everyone on the team.. the skaters would of been more confident everything..its just how it works

Please...stop with this tank bullpoop, because it isn't happening.

It's not hard to understand (unless you're a close minded stubborn twat), Kadri & Frattin have chemistry. Just because Matt Frattin isn't a household name, doesn't mean he can't play on the second line. He got a shot with Toronto and it worked (with Kadri). If we signed a FA winger, you would've complained about "overpaying"... If we traded for a 2nd line winger, and overpaid, you would complain. Just use the guy who has chemistry with our 2nd line Center.

- MCharisma91

Short term success. You need 20 goals for 2nd liner. He had 15 and I doubt he'll come close again. I'd give him a shot at 3rd. But 2nd is just a disaster waiting to happen for the Leafs.

I'd much rather him on the Marlies. Just predicting what I think will happen. Sounds like something the Leafs would do, right?

No I know what you mean. But when you see your 3rd stringer is playing lights out for you and giving you a chance to win, you have to play better for the kid.

If Tokarski played average then I'd say the players would have less confidence, but he played very well and that should have made the players play much better.

Komorov is going on the third at 3 million.

Frattin I can see on 4th. With ashton.

Leivo is my first option for top 9 call up.

I don't think Holland gets a gig. RC doesn't like him me thinks. I think we need Ott or Legwand.

Offense tends to be harder to come by when you start off every game down two goals.
