Someone was saying it was the core, it does not help when you have no 3rd or 4th line contributing game in and game out. Those lines are critical to the success of a team nowadays. - LeafMan
Indeed.
And especially in the playoffs. |

correct.. the top line went ice cold.. - senstroll
Offense tends to be harder to come by when you start off every game down two goals. |

Bingo. When you hardly play you're 4th line because they're uselss, it raises the ice time of every other forward, as the season goes on, these players get worn out. It was expected. |

Goaltending really wasn't an issue.
The team was gased and the Rangers were simply better at that moment. They were on a roll. |

Which is why I want to see the Leafs give marlies a chance this year.

(frank)in stupid to let MacIntyre walk - BoTtLePoLiCe
I agree. They should have kept him. They didn't draft another goalie so why let him go? He provided depth. |

But there will be many tears in your beers as well.
Those are not tears of joy either. |

You could also look at it the other way.
Did the Leafs deserve to be in 3rd place in the East when they only won 3 games in Regulation over a span of 3 months? Was the team always as bad as the last 20 games and just got some puck luck?
You are going the opposite way and accentuating the positive too much when a lot of people were pointing out flaws long ago... - Iggysbff
Ignoring wins because they're in OT was one of the most hilarious arguments trolls had this season. Thanks for reminding me of that one. |

you guys were all using not having a starting goalie as an excuse during the series.. and the rags had played MORE games than you guys had.
the no gas in the tank excuse is BS in its finest form
the rags had played 14 games by the start of that series, the habs? 11

Still was pretty close series, a simple hard overtime was the difference. |

Yeah but their confidence was affected by the Bernier injury.
It'S all connected to Bernier!!!! - Pecafan Fan
if some fans want to use that as an excuse..thats fine, I guess it makes them feel better.
it does not explain the 30+ game slump where they got 5 wins...
