I don't think so.
Weaver brings a lot of the same. Tinordi's a step further along. They'll be fine. That's why they traded Gorges.

Was there something else at play here?

Trading him to Buffalo....that almost seems like a punishment.

Good for Gorges for making friends with the reporters. Allowed Bergevin to move an over-valued asset. Bonus.

Sekac will be interesting to watch at camp as will Parenteau and all three of the rookie defenders. Inside edge to Beaulieu after his playoffs I believe.

I was one of the fans clamouring for 27 at center, but you make a good point EE. Give him a long look at camp before shipping out Eller or Plekanec. Otherwise, wait for an injury. I'd rather see him play 18 minutes on the wing than 11 at center at this point.

If the Galchenyuk situation demands patience, I think the same goes for Tokarski. Let him earn the back-up job at camp, then waive Budaj. The goaltender trade market has been dead for a long time, is a 6-7th rounder worth risking Tokarski coming in with bloated expectations and ego and choking and then you have no back-up. (As unlikely as that may be.)

Not as much as Toronto... at least, in his mind.

Those 3. PK, Markov and Gilbert.

Who's playing D?

I think by Christmas the Habs will be looking for a stay-at-home D that is a heart and soul, do anything to win kind of player.

Was he overpaid? Maybe a bit. Are the Habs better without him?..........Remains to be seen.

- stormey

Emelin and Tinordi are stay at home D that will be physical. Markov and Subban are effective at both ends of the ice.

Tinordi will be twice the heart and soul Gorges was, he will block the shots and he will drop the mitts to stand up for his teamates when needed, something Gorges could not do.

It was punishment for saying no to TO (which would have been punishment enough IMO)

If the Habs trade Bourque... they create another void on the wing in the top 9.

Wasn't there a bunch of goalies traded at the deadline?

and as for the patience on 27. I'm getting annoyed by that. If you don't let him develop at centre, then he won't learn how to play it. Trade Eller or DD and if there's an injury, call up someone or promote someone from within. I'm tired or seeing him on the wing. He was drafted 3rd overall because he was a potential #1 centre, not a winger....

Rant over....

I think not having top notch goal tending will give him poorer numbers than he had with the Habs.

I doubt there is much if any value in Budaj at this time of year.

Are you really going to place either of Tokarski or Budaj in with Ryan Miller. Correct me if I'm wrong but he's the only one that got any decent return in said flurry of goaltender trading.

I'd put the guy on waivers to end his misery.

Is it still possible to put a player on waivers?

I would try to steal that 2017 6th rounder from SJ, the one they got from COL for Brad Stuart.
