Guess we'll have to see how the O clicks next season. Flyers just weren't very productive 5v5 last season and I think that has to be addressed...but then again, maybe it won't be a problem this coming season. Who can predict how the kids are going to perform with one more season and a 7 game playoff series under their belts.
- wolfhounds

I think the problem with the 3rd line last year was that, after his second concussion, Downie was an anchor getting drug along on that line. He was a net negative on the ice for the last 40+ games last year.

Depends on how much cap space we freed up in the trade and how much easier it would be to fill the new hole than get an Ekblad type of player.
- aflyerpower8

You've gotta assume that, at the least, Coburn would be gone. And I don't think Ekblad can replace his overall game right off the bat.

You think Giroux can turn them into 20+ goal scorers? Not those last three although I don't know enough of Bellemare.
- mayorofangrytown

My knee jerk reaction was to tell you to get off my ass MOAT.

And yeah I understand, there's a bunch of unknowns. I think Hexy would like to have made more changes. But I'm not upset going into the season with what we have and playing some shells games for that top line winger for G. As long as his production starts more smoothly than last years!

Jagr was an unknown coming into 2012 and he lit it up and put Giroux in the category as best in the world.

from a financial standpoint, yes the Flyers improved. From a product on the ice standpoint, no I don't think we improved at all. I think it's crazy to think otherwise.
- SuperSchennBros

I agree to a point.

I think there will be some benefit for Berube to have a full training camp. I think we're looking for improvement from BSchenn, Courturier, and yes, even LSchenn a little bit.

Having our boy Jason Akeson around will give the team a different look, offensively.

There'll be fewer penalties to kill (*looks at #HartnellDown t-shirt*) and we have an extra guy (Umberger) who can work the PK.

They might not be as bad you think, but I don't they are contenders in the East or anything.

Flyers won't be able to score goals without Hartnell.

Rememeber in the lockout season when he had 8 goals all season and the Flyers offense sucked? Oh wait, they were 9th in the league in goals.

- Feanor

I think Hartnell is a net positive to any team, but, even though I'm not a fan of the trade, losing him shouldn't be a crippling move.

If you're referring to Aaron Ekblad, 95% of us would be pissed and the other 5% are morons who love to hate the team.
- jmatchett383

Agreed 100%, especially if simmer was involved. HELL Fing NO. Just not worth it IMO. O fcourse the facebook flyer "fans" wanted to give up half the team for 1 kid.

That's because most people who call themselves Flyers fans are really just Eagles fans who love to listen to WIP and hate everything about their teams. They want to trade the entire team for the "right" players, and then once they get traded, they bemoan the trades and then want to trade the new players, and the cycle repeats.

They used to show up in his videos so no. They're quite famous. They don't shun the celebrity like their father.

How the hell can he justify that amount? Also, unless he's bringing new charges, isn't that considered double jeopardy?

just once, i'd like all that perennial vaunted depth to actually score goals in the playoffs against a team other than pittsburgh.

Link?

Bertuzzi should've been banned for life for what he did. Imho, of course.

and despite his injury history, i wish the flyers would have kept him. the guy can still play, and he's a good influence on the rest of the team.

Civil court..

He claims he would have blossomed into a top 6 winger.

Then you must be glad Hartnell is gone since he had one ES goal in his last 29 playoff games.

Yeah, I felt letting him go was a mistake at the time and still do.
