Two way, but he's not waiver exempt so if they demote him to the AHL he may be claimed.
- Feanor

hmm interesting.. I wonder if they plan on him being with the big club to start

I think Schenn and Akeson will get fair looks. Vinny at LW should not be an option any more, and I'd be wary of putting an unknown in Frenchie there. Raffl should be a bottom-6 player, and I like Read's chemistry with Couturier.
- jmatchett383

That pretty much condemns Read and Couts to non-offensive roles. If we're going to assume Couts is always going to be a d-first player who is going to have to bust his ass for offensive looks, I throw Umberger or Raffl or Bellemare on a line with him and keep Read in the top 2. But that's just me.

How is what I'm saying weird? the Flyers didn't get better until after the Max Talbot trade. I thought the deal for Steve Downie was fantastic. He had great chemistry with this line maids and instantly improve this team. The Flyers got better as the club evaluated their team during the regular season. What's weird about that?

Raffle would be better if he could hit the friggin net, he has all the other intangibles, fast, strong on the wall, pretty dang smart. I'd be having him work on his shot all off-season. As for the Frenchie, he is an unkown to us but maybe not to them. We'll see.

Not at all. Players like Patrice Bergeron, Michael Peca, Jere Lehtinen, Pavel Datsyuk, Ryan Kesler, Rod Brind'Amour, Ron Francis, etc. all won the Selke Trophy while providing solid offense to their teams. I'm not saying he's like any of them, but I'd be happy if he can get to their levels. Both he and Read are solid offensive threats.

The Flyers could've taken a risk and dealt Grossmann around the draft, so they could pursue Niskanen. And they also could've tried to trade Hartnell for draft picks, and targeted Moulson.
- MJL

If Hartnell was as mad as reported he was going to pick were he was going. That along with that contract seriously limited options, IMO.

So how mad would people be if eckblad was a flyer now, but we had a huge hole in our offense from the players we gave up??

If you're referring to Aaron Ekblad, 95% of us would be pissed and the other 5% are morons who love to hate the team.

from a financial standpoint, yes the Flyers improved. From a product on the ice standpoint, no I don't think we improved at all. I think it's crazy to think otherwise.

I could live with trading Lecavalier but if you live and let live, the team was better with him last season then without. It doesn't seem to me a concrete plan is in place.
- SuperSchennBros

I feel the opposite. I think Hextall actually has a plan were as Holmgren didn't. So far Hextall has accumulated 2 picks, shed 5 years of a bad contract for 3 years of a bad contract, picked up depth on the blueline on a 1 year contract and added some AHL level talent. Seems like a plan to me, just not one you like.

I think Schenn, Vinny, Read, hell, even Raffle, Akeson, and Bellemare could go to G's wing and produce at Hartnell's level if they see the same ice time and pp time.
- FlyersGrace

You think Giroux can turn them into 20+ goal scorers? Not those last three although I don't know enough of Bellemare.

No big-time UFA signings and a fairly lateral trade is apparently a terrible offseason.

Flyers won't be able to score goals without Hartnell.

Rememeber in the lockout season when he had 8 goals all season and the Flyers offense sucked? Oh wait, they were 9th in the league in goals.

Depends on how much cap space we freed up in the trade and how much easier it would be to fill the new hole than get an Ekblad type of player.

Guess we'll have to see how the O clicks next season. Flyers just weren't very productive 5v5 last season and I think that has to be addressed...but then again, maybe it won't be a problem this coming season. Who can predict how the kids are going to perform with one more season and a 7 game playoff series under their belts.
