Snow would do it even though he had a off year. He's not done and from here. I like Grabner a lot but if Capuano is going to completely misuse the guy I'd honestly rather see him succeed somewhere else. I'd rather it not be the pens but if that's the only deal we have we take it without even thinking about it. Scuderi is a good defenseman with some great experience and is exactly what we are lacking on our blue line. The problem is I have a friend who played with him and is pretty close with the guy and he has told him numerous times he would never play here. Don't know whether that's changed but i have my doubts

I think he has an 8 team no trade list. Hopefully he's blocked out a bunch of west teams

Simple addition by subtraction....

for only 4 more years, if isles trade for Phaneuf, it only adds $3M+ to payroll if swapped for Bailey? I'm ok w/that

I'd like to see who else we can get besides Phaneuf first.

If everyone plays to their potential, big if but if it happens we have as good an offense as any one in the east. We have too many forwards on one way contracts,if we can turn 2 into a Yandle,Boychuk etc we are a legitimate playoff team.

Interesting bringing in a Russian and one from Belarus with the move to Brooklyn. I would think some season tickets will be sold when they move to Brooklyn (Brighton Beach)....

Vancouver need a 3rd line center....maybe Bailey for Edler.
Still enough forward depth and prospects to snag another dman......Boychuk?

Benning won't move Edler, they're going to see how he does under a new coach. Possibly tanev but Bailey won't get it done, at least not by himself

If 1 or both are being moved for a Dman, I would still investigate the possible trade scenario of Bailey for Phaneuf. Isles don't have enough quality NHL dmen on roster and to add some will help immensely. Obviously with these 2 signings opens the door for a trade/trades.

Just think...

Hammer/DeHaan/Phaneuf/??? from possible trade that's pretty solid.
I didn't include Viz only bc of his health issue but if he stays healthy that's another piece to D.

Yandle would cost to much of losing top prospects, I would 1st try to see what can be fetched w/expendable roster players. Since isles added depth w/2days signings

Seven years of rebuilding gives you prospects to trade for an upgrade. First line center JT. Second line center could be 1 of 4 guys. Strome fits where on wing? Doubt it. Dangle him an get what you need.
- kindlyrick

Adding two experienced forwards gives Strome more time to develop. He did well in the AHL because of his skill but NHL requires more size because of the speed. When Strome fills out he will be awesome. He may have to start season in BRI, but he has the right attitude. Likewise Lee is still learning pro defensive game. Just like Nelson took a big step last year.

Btw I'm not picking on the islanders. The need to win now and nice to see them active. Hope players return the effort. They deserve a winner

Dont think JR has ever loved the euros. Whatever. I was pleasantly surprised today. Now Snow has to acquire that top 4 Dman.

For us to get Phaneuf straight up for Bailey, that contract would have to be killing them.

I get why they pick on the islanders I just dont get why anyone would have anything to complain about with these signings for a lot of reasons? It was an overpayment a bit but solid signings imo and of course we have to over pay. Now if Snow does what he did after the Vanek trade theyll have a reason to complain but I dont see that happening. This is obviously the beginning of a trade. Hopefully its a good one.

They want to get rid of the guy and that contract. I know they just signed him but for whatever reason they want to get rid of him. Hes not a bad player. He has his moments don't get me wrong but I think it'd be worth the chance to see if his game improves outside toronto. I can see that happen. He can go from a pretty good defenseman to a really good one. I just wouldnt want to give up too much for him.

Isles may add something little to possible trade but according to capgeek, TOR has 14 roster players signed ( NOT including RFA ) w/about $16M of cap space to sign some of there RFA's or fill up roster, so I guess that $7M is troublesome....
