How could anyone not think that? Counting Halak, these are the first three expensive free agents they've signed since Streit, unless you want to count Nabokov, who was technically still here when he signed. Snow hasn't made a trade of anything other than a draft pick or a pending UFA ever, other than the crap prospects he traded for Ryan Smyth a long time ago, right at the time he decided to rebuild. All he has done is draft players and take on reclamation projects to buy time. If that's not "rebuilding through the draft", I don't know how one might define that.

More like putting a "team" on the ice for his paying customers through the waiver wire.

The hosts also never mentioned the #1 pick. It did seem like just a Vankek for Moulson deal.

I'm still listening to WFAN and a couple of angry Isles fans are Bringing up some short comings. The hosts are now pretty much admitting that it was a Soft Ball interview.

The 1st rd and 2nd rd pick to Buffalo was finally brought up.

it was a softball interview cause they don't know enough about the sport and don't have researchers..it wasn't bad just a lay up interview..would have been alot worse if Mike was doing it

Exactly. It was very obvious. My fault for not pointing that out.

Note that Snow mentioned the new arena as the key selling point for the signings yesterday..

How does Petrov's drafting work? Is he ours until he comes to the NHL or after a few years does the drafting of him exclusiveness fade?

Not sure if anybody has commented on this but all Islander "big" RFAs are Europeans, maybe Snow thought that Vanek would also sign because of his track record with Europeans.

Halak
Visnovsky - came through trade then FA
Nabokov - waivers then FA

As far as McDavid, I don't think the franchise is looking to draft another franchise forward who is six years younger than our present franchise forward. As it is we are trying to develop Strome and Nelson as key forwards.

Everyone is trying to trade forwards when we have a team in Bridgeport to let them play on. The NHL is becoming a bigger and faster league so it is still tough for a 21 or 22 yr old to step in on opening night.

I don't want him back, he's quit on two teams quickly both times. That tells me he's a pouty little baby. No second chances for him.

Angry Isles fans, b*tching? I'm having a hard time believing that. I'm just not picturing that in my mind.

We have too many forwards on one way contracts. Playing in Bridgeport assumes they'd make it there without being swallowed up. Again, I'm convinced that these moves yesterday were specifically made for the flexibility to decide the lineup, and then readjust the roster a bit. Will some of the defensemen go back and forth on the ferry? Absolutely, but our forwards are all pretty much NHL level players at this point. At least one or two of them have to go elsewhere.
