I imagine teams will be lined up for a 37 year old coming off two broken legs....signed for 3 years.
- stormeyweather

Perhaps you missed where someone here called him a warrior.

That's a term that doesn't get thrown around a lot here on Hockeybuzz - if someone uses that term, it really, really means something.

Warrior.

Yes, you are jealous.

This team steadily gave up any kinda of direction it had. I feel like those has-been Senators... like we are clearly not going anywhere. Adding a guy like Robidas is a piece you add when the rest of your team IS ACTUALLY GOOD and you know adding him is the cherry on top. I'm happy we didn't sign those greedy basts to idiotic contracts like we did last year with Clarkson, but still, re-signing useless players that once donned the blue and white seems pointless, I don't care who you are. We do nothing at trade deadline, lose 12 out of 14 games because of the team we ice out there every night due to our lack of activity, then come July 1st we sit out. Is it impossible nowadays to get a great player for a great term/ cost? Guess it makes sense, I mean who wants to play here anyways. We suck and do nothing to show the world were gonna be something sometime soon. Plus the fans just take it. Don't get me started on that chick we drafted... So if we suck on the key acquisition days (TD/ Draft/ July 1st) and we suck on the ice, what are we good for? I tell you now this squad has until 2017 our 100 year team anniversary to produce. IF not, Detroit Red Wings here I come!

if most recall, the Leafs didnt have problems scoring goals most nights...it was wearing down the opposition and not letting (them) score goals.
- Colin Dambrauskas

Bro, we need 3 lines with all 50 goal scoters, and if nonahan weren't trash we'd have got it all done yesterday.

Funny thing, Nonis mentioned having another righty in Granberg, didn't mention Franson by name. lol

You're going to have to make a few hit or miss signings. ie. guys coming off terrible seasons. He's 24 years old and has show a lot more than say a 22 year old Gudbranson.
- mykokes

No way. We don't need Del Zotto. For one he's garbage and we have Rielly and Gards. No space for another PMD. If anything we need another stay at home guy. And please don't compare Del Zotto to Gudbranson. You couldn't trade Del Zotto for Gudbranson's used practice jersey.

Third line of Komarov-Ott-Clarkson? That would piss me off before I even got on the ice.

I would be fine with that.

Remember this about Polak: he played 'behind' but was also insulated by those guys. I remember JBO being called a joke on Cgy. He became a stud on STL. Weird. (i think it's a wash again, he is a tougher Gunnar so a solid trade but that's it).
- clark_griswold

I don't think St. Louis used him as much as they should have. My like for Polak dates back four years ago when he had a prominent role there. I think he can handle a prominent defensive role here....say 19 minutes a game.

i understand, but when you play with quality D men your game gets better.

STL made the trade because they have a D man ready to make the jump to replace a guy like Polak, and needed a dman that was of gunnersons caliber...not totally O minded, or D minded, sort of in the middle...to play with shatenkirk.

As would I. Bet they draw more penalties than any other line in hockey by a long shot.

I'm not sure if you watched what happened yesterday.. But it couldn't have gotten much better for the Leafs.

Unless OTT comes. need another 2nd line winger too.

AND HEY

Detroit did nothing yesterday. You're running your mouth without knowing a thing.

Have fun in Detroit.

At about 10:30 this morning, we were really close to having everyone agree on how Nonis did yesterday. We just needed to put the final details into the Frattin trade.

And then it all fell apart.

I agree with Djamon. I wasn't expecting miracles but i was expecting a clear direction. Either tank fully or attempt to improve; our roster could have gone either way. We swam in circles here and tied up more money aimlessly (again komarov has a role but 3 mil is gross).

I get all the time left for 'change' but the draft is by far where the most trades happen and for good reason.

Two seasons ago when Del Zotto was 22 you could have. You're probably right, he's not the right piece, but I don't mind taking a chance on a guy who has hit a lowpoint in their career. Much better than paying a guy 5M coming off a pair of career seasons.

STL is also a team of Selke minded players. If TO's forwards would help out once in a while instead of waiting at the red line, the D wouldnt look so bad either.
