Absolutely. Only scoring we lost was Raymond's. And I won't miss his puss play at all. Would really like it if they added Legwand or Ott. Legwand could add some offense but I would still love to see a Komarov-Ott-Clarkson line.
- iTOLDu

I think it's something we must to. Makes us tough, Leaf fans will love it. Gives us some leverage.

And again, Lupul and Clarkson are likely going to be better than they were last season.

The guy is a 50-ish pts guy. He had 44 last season... And he'll be 31 next season.

Komarov is purely a defensive player, and Frattin plays a 200 ft game and hits... Hard. Those 2 on the 3 rd line are going to be much tougher to play against. Add holland at C and they should contribute a bit more scoring also.

Gunnar wasn't the problem, but Polak is more of a shutdown guy, and Gunnar was being played above his ability, and Polak is RD. Not purely a lateral move, it's a better fit IMO

i do agree.

im not saying i would have kept them. That's what people are misunderstanding. That's whining, which people are accusing me of. Im saying without them, we're worse and people are disagreeing.

im fine with a bottom finish. Don't get why people on here are saying we're better.

Could've , would've, should've....that's whining. Stating my opinion of what this team will do is conversing.

- clark_griswold

I never said you were whining..I think we have just a good a chance at being top 8 in the East as we do being in the bottom. Improved D will go along way. I will miss Kulemen the most..but the (frank)er just never got it done...he seemed to always rush everything. Would love to have him as a 3rd/4th line PK but.....

He demanded a trade too.. I'm not saying he's great, or his contract is good, or that he'll carry us to the playoffs. I'm simple saying that he's better than most back-ups available so Nonis is holding into him until he gets a good return.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

Well... He asked for a trade. He's not in a position to demand anything.

depends, if he played with kessel he should get 60+ np

leafs should take a look at putting lupul back on the top line and getting jvr and kadri working together, seems like lupul and kadri dont work as well, but kessel and lupul worked very welll.

but that would mean randy has to actually do some good coaching, so, scratch that!

prior to that he was PPG with the Leafs.

He and Kadri had a lot going the previous season, and neither got it together this season.

Another thing people forget is the effect Komarov had on the team. Pretty much every time a line was struggling, he got put on it, and they found their legs again.

Frattin had chemistry with Kadri last time he played here.

There are also players on the marlies who're looking to get a shot- that's the big part you're missing here. Leivo? He looked damn good when given a top-6 role. Holland played well in a top six role as well. Either one of those guys is a fine replacement for Raymond.

And again, Lupul and Clarkson are likely going to be better than they were last season.

And Bolland? Why do you keep bringing him up? He was a complete non-factor when all was said and done.

- Feeling Glucky?

so im being too pessimistic by saying we're worse, yet you are banking on matt frattin (whom i like for his role; a 4th liner) having magic chemistry with kadri because they played well on the marlies (forget that frattin was a ghost last year and found no chemistry anywhere on good teams)?

i guess i am way off base.

At this moment, it looks like they're going to give Frattin a shot at it, based on his previous chemistry with Kadri. If that doesn't work, they'll look to bring Leivo up.

If both of those don't work, then they'll slot in someone they gain in a trade as a temporary solution. I'm sure Clarkson will be moved up into that spot during the season as well.

- ILoveLamp

Please no. Fratts is a 4th liner, maybe 3rd if needed.

I would pay to see Alfie in a Leafs uniform. Just to chirp Ottawa.

Have we thought about grabbing Malone?

Clarkson almost has to be better, Lupul still put up 20+goals! same as always, and he will again. DDT think Lupul struggled last season, he played with 2 guys who we're struggling, and it brought his numbers down a bit, but he was still 3rd on the team in goals

I think they're trying to get rid of distractions and asshats, Malone doesn't fit that...

reimer is probley better than most backup but hes a goalie that needs to play to be good.

he has 0 confidence right now IMO.

It seems like it. But let's not just give him away for free.

have you seen frattin and komarov's stats?
- clark_griswold

Komarov had 4 goals in the shortened season.

Kulemin had 9 all of last season.

Frattin didn't get much playing time last season, because the teams he was on had too much depth for him to crack, but in the 82 games he played with the Leafs, he had 15 goals- and played with far more energy than Raymond has in his entire career.

So that swap, assuming all things stay the same, means the Leafs lose... what, 5/6 goals?

Big deal.

Obviously you can say Frattin won't get 15 goals this season, but then you include Holland and Leivo getting bigger roles, and the possibility(remote as it may be*) that something else will change in the next 2 months before the season starts.

I really like this lineup, for what we are trying to achieve this year.I happily be like Phx and Nashville for a couple of years. Then, once you have a solid foundation, that's when you move to upgrade.Last year, it felt like the team was just thrown together with no real plan or action. This year, so far, I think they will be solid, and hard to play against
