It blows people's mind that, if you concede less goals, you do not have to score as many to still win a game.

I'm coming to find this out more and more.

We lost a lot of scoring? WTF Kulemin, Bolland and McClement?

actually you are talking to a guy who preached that, however, i didn't know that gunnar was the problem defensively with his +14. I also didn't know that mcclemant and bolland were as well and that komarov and frattin are great defensively.

I stand corrected.

raymond, bolland when he played, kuli will outscore komarov and frattin all day. So yes, we did lose scoring. But if you throw in a bunch of it does make your post seem more credible and mine stupid.

You start using an analogy, and think I'm attacking you by continuing it?

wtf?

Reimer didn't do his job.

That's why they're looking to get rid of him.

End of story.

He demanded a trade too.. I'm not saying he's great, or his contract is good, or that he'll carry us to the playoffs. I'm simple saying that he's better than most back-ups available so Nonis is holding into him until he gets a good return.

I think one thing that is getting glossed over is that just because Carlyle is back, doesn't mean he will simply do things the exact same as last year.

My bet is that Shanahan likes some things that Carlyle does, and he wasn't prepared to throw the baby out with the bathwater right away. But at the same time, the stuff that drove us so crazy (over-reliance on vets, poor usage of 4th line, forcing the use of enforcer vets over energy Marlies, etc.) is being directly addressed.

Basically a case of 'we like this stuff, so keep doing that. But this, that and the other? Yeah, if you don't change that, you're out'.

- mcleafs

This

In carlyle's post not being fired press conference, he said he was given a mandate to change up several aspects of his plan. He's been given more direction, and at same time been given defensive Dmen who will work better in the defensive system he was trying, but failed, to implement.

So Kulemin has scored 16g in his last 118 NHL games..and you think he is going to outscore Komarov and Frattin 100%

Forgot Raymond who i hate, but had offense. not that they're great scorers, but replacing them with frattin and komarov?
- clark_griswold

He had offense at the start of the season. Scored 10 goals in the first couple of months, while the team was at it's hottest. Then disappeared.

You're forgetting that guys like Lupul, Kadri, and Clarkson all had bad seasons by their standards last season... it's not out of the realm of possibility to expect some bounce-back.

We didn't lose any of our main offense. Raymond was hot at the beginning of the year and invisible for the rest. McClement and Kulemin didn;t bring poop offensively. Bolland didn't play.

Komarov comes in and plays Kulemin's role just as well, cheaper, and brings way more grit and pestiness. I don't care that Franson lead the league in bumps, Komarov was a heat seeking missile.

Robidas is a very smart defensive veteran. Brings stability to the dressing room, and a lot better defensive play than we've seen up till now.

Polak is an improvement over Gleason, and plays a tough game as well.

- Feeling Glucky?

so for offense this year we have Phil, JVR, Kadri. One of those guys goes down, and what happens? Lupul is a bandaid.

I don't love any of the guys we lost but you can throw raymond, bolland, kuli in on one of those lines.

Frattin or komarov? not so much

im not saying i would have kept them. That's what people are misunderstanding. That's whining, which people are accusing me of. Im saying without them, we're worse and people are disagreeing.

im fine with a bottom finish. Don't get why people on here are saying we're better.

Could've , would've, should've....that's whining. Stating my opinion of what this team will do is conversing.

Frattin had chemistry with Kadri last time he played here.

There are also players on the marlies who're looking to get a shot- that's the big part you're missing here. Leivo? He looked damn good when given a top-6 role. Holland played well in a top six role as well. Either one of those guys is a fine replacement for Raymond.

And again, Lupul and Clarkson are likely going to be better than they were last season.

And Bolland? Why do you keep bringing him up? He was a complete non-factor when all was said and done.

Komarov is purely a defensive player, and Frattin plays a 200 ft game and hits... Hard. Those 2 on the 3 rd line are going to be much tougher to play against. Add holland at C and they should contribute a bit more scoring also.

Gunnar wasn't the problem, but Polak is more of a shutdown guy, and Gunnar was being played above his ability, and Polak is RD. Not purely a lateral move, it's a better fit IMO
