Agreed. and you know what? I don't mind it. If Shanahan wants a rebuild, then great. Let's do it right. Go after the top 2 players in a upcoming deep draft. But just don't half-ass it like we've done in the past or rush it. I think fans accept a rebuild knowing it's going to be done properly and we're feeding in top talent - i.e. rielly, now nylander, next year McDavid or the other guy ...

Then we should have traded Dion.

i do agree, d'amigo had a chance at 4th line role, and frattin shoudl be third liner.

at this point i think were looking at this..

jvr-bozak-kessel
lupul-kadri-clarkson
frattin-holland-komarov
?-?-?

That third line is so iffy.

im not a fan of robidas, would have rather done nothing
has everything to do with his age, like come on 37 3 year deal?!

- nightmare3020

I was also surprised he got more than 2 years.

This being said, Robidas is a solid defenseman, he's definetely an improvement for the Leafs.

do you need me to call the suicide hotline?

man oh man.. relax a bit

- Dozzer

Having watched Robidas in Anaheim, he's still got a lot in the tank. He's a warrior, plays well beyond his size, and very decently.

Also opens up the possibility (with Polak as well) to bring in a Del Zotto as a Mason Raymond type signing on the d.

Better than having a 3mil plus floater on the line in Raymond, that is another coaches problem.

Having Clarkson is enough.

gleason and a hobbled robidas = wash
gunnar (17 pts +14) for polak = wash
fratting and leo combined have about 30 nhl points (and they're not exactly power forwards). I hate panzis and raymond and kuli are both....but come on at least they could put up offense. I don't see how anyone who watches teams other than the leafs (watch polak and robidas play) can think we are better. Maybe not much worse, but no chance we are better. And not much worse is pretty sh*t.

if most recall, the Leafs didnt have problems scoring goals most nights...it was wearing down the opposition and not letting (them) score goals.

Here's the other thing about Robidas at 3M. Should we implode again and we need to trade assets, Robidas will be very easy to move....even if he sucks here. He's a very popular fella in the league amongst the coaches.
- mykokes

I imagine teams will be lined up for a 37 year old coming off two broken legs....signed for 3 years.

hey i wasn't complaining like most think. I simply stated we are headed for bottom 8ish pick again. I said that may not be a bad thing. We do have some young players that will be here for a while.

To say we're better is hillarious.

- clark_griswold

gunnerson - hip injury, somewhat decent numbers because he plays 5 on 5 with dion.

7th round pick, yeah thats a huge loss.

Roman P is nails, hes played with great D man on a solid team as well, you are forgetting this guy played behind pietrangelo, shatenkirk and boumeister. he is no scrub.

Robidas is there for a vet presence, a guy whos been around the block a few times, is he a savior, no, but he will surely be a D man that randy can count on...maybe not for 25 mins a game, but will help surely.

our D needed the most work.

now 2 of the 3 pairings have improved. whethere you want to believe that is up to you, time will tell.

maybe you should listen to adams song by blink if you feel this way tomorrow.

Van Riemsdyk - Bozak - Kessel
Lupul - Kadri - Clarkson
Komarov - Holland - Frattin
Lievo - Smith - Bodie

Phaneuf - Bieksa
Gardiner - Robidas
Rielly - Polak
Granberg

Bernier
Reimer

Franson + for Bieksa

I like that lineup...

- BoTtLePoLiCe

Few problems with this.

Our 4th line is too small.

Levio is a 2-3 line guy who isn't ready just yet.
Bodie is gone.

(frank) smith.

They need to grab OTT have holland and ott run the 3/4.

Sign Heatley or vrbata for 2nd line. Clarkson moves to third.

Frattin on 4th with ashton.

We don't know what to expect of our pretty boy yet either.

Franson will be traded but not sure for who yet.

Knowing how (frank)ing tough he is, yes. LA sure didn't mind keeping Willie Mitchell around for years as he sat hobbled. And I'm pretty sure Talon just signed that beast.

You're going to have to make a few hit or miss signings. ie. guys coming off terrible seasons. He's 24 years old and has show a lot more than say a 22 year old Gudbranson.

There are others out there too.

Remember this about Polak: he played 'behind' but was also insulated by those guys. I remember JBO being called a joke on Cgy. He became a stud on STL. Weird. (i think it's a wash again, he is a tougher Gunnar so a solid trade but that's it).
