I ordered an iPad on eBay. It shipped from Florida to Ohio, and from there to Kentucky.

Seems odd.

I am really surprised to hear you say that.

I agree with the assessment of Koivu as a player and what he was asked to do.

Obviously I don't know nearly what I think I know about Habs players or the fans views. I always thought Koivu was a heart and soul guy and fan favourite and team favourite with the Habs.

Phaneuf seems to be universally disliked by fans and players alike.

I like Dion....I just dont believe he is true number 1 and feel in order for him to succeed he would be better suited in the 2 slot.
But we have no one to replace him or shift him over.

moreso just the way you are going about it.

do i think the leafs are goona be great next year? i dont think so, i think bernier will have to be better than last season...our d is mildly better, but forwards i think we lost some depth overall.hopefully a better 2 way play, but the bottom line is, we still have the same coach and the same style of play, which these players are not going to play.

everyone has their views, it doesnt mean anyone is more right than anyone else.

- big_dion

im going about it rationally. I haven't called anyone crap on the roster, said nonis is an idiot. Haven't called anyone names on here. I don't get it. I guess you have to say they will be great on here.

It also sounds from your views that you agree with me. But maybe i read that wrong.

During a 48 game season....dont you get it!!!!
If you think Bernier's injury is the only reason they didnt make the playoffs, than you simply cant be helped.
AFter 48 games this past season they had a playoff spot.
After 48 games the season prior to the shortened season, they had a playoff spot.
But what did they have after 82 games? In the past 10 years, what year, after completing 82 regular season games, did they have a playoff spot?
You relate everything back to a 48 game season..........the leafs are decent up 50 games (the past couple of years)

In recent years the leafs have reversed how they use to play. They now fall apart during the stretch run (final 20 games or so). about 6 - 7 years ago , they would be crap all year and turn it on the final 20 games or so.
But they have yet to complete an 82 game season without collasping somewhere during it.....often a couple of times.
So yes, Dion played in the number 1 spot on a team that made the playoffs during a 48 game season which collasped in game 7.

When he is able to play the number 1 spot (play it well) while his team makes the playoffs for consecutive years in a row after an 82 game season, then we'll talk.
Like I posted earlier, Dion needs a quality partner to take his minutes away and make him look good.

I need a taco!

I'm going to be honest with you: I read up to "If you think Bernier's injury is the only reason they didnt make the playoffs, than you simply cant be helped." and didn't bother to go any further.

Simply put, no, obviously that's not the only reason. Lots of things went wrong- and if those things hadn't gone wrong, and Bernier did still get injured, there's a good chance the LEafs would have made the playoffs.

But as it stood, even with all the Leafs' other problems, they were 3rd in the East, because of the high-end skill up front, and the skill in net.

I'm going to assume you brought up PDO as a luck stat... I think that's a moronic way to interpret it. Shooting % and save % are a result of skill. Skilled players will score more on fewer shots. Skilled goalies will allow fewer goals on more shots.

That's what the Leafs rode, and when Bernier went down, they lost a very valuable part of that combo.

So far this offseason, the Leafs have addressed some of the team's other flaws.

They're re-orgnaizing their defense into a more balanced, defensively sound d-corps, and they've brought in more veteran leadership, along with players that brought an infectious energy when they last played here.

Obviously there are still holes in this line-up, but it's day 3 of free agency.

he was good before he got here and good the first year. Last year wasn't his best but the guy played way too much. I dont' see a replacement at all, and that bodes not well for the 28th PK
- clark_griswold

He was playing 16-18 minutes a game when Bolland got hurt. Was way too much for that guy and he should've stayed as a 4th liner playing top PK minutes.

which is why the leafs should have done all they can to get another #2 d man to play with him.

its like the center thing though.

bozak is ok, so that works.

now were goona have bozak playing with phil til he retires ffs!

that kills me. and bozie impressed me last year..

If he would've stayed, he would've wanted more. It's only because of the stark reality that for each day you go unsigned as aging 4th liner, the harder it is to land a deal. That's where FA can really pay off (like it did for us with Raymond and McClement), veteran/depth guys on the cheap.
- gravyface

that works in some cases, but i doubt he said 'ya i'll take a mil in carolina over a mil here where my family is comfortable and i know the guys'. But you never know, you could be right i just doubt that was the case. I think nonis wants to bottom out. You don't give komarov $3 mil and not give mcclemant $1mil.

Ya I would imagine McClement looks at the role he played last year and was expecting term (3yrs) at close to $2M per...

Assume they have a plan to promote from within or fourth line.

well i do agree with some of it.

but i think the leafs adding 2 RH d men they can rely on is an improvement.

robidas > gunnersson (gibbled hip)
polak > gleason

rielly and gardiner will be 1 year older and should be a bit better...so yeah i think our d is a bit better overall.

losing kulemin isnt the end of the world, but hes a good 2 way player.
losing raymond not end of the world either, but he could put the puck in the net.

(frank) bolland - legwand will be just as good if we get him. if not holland will get a good look and we can see if he has value going forward.

cup run? hell no, battle for a playoff spot, yes.

Dion will be our third best D man next year. Book it.

The frustrating part about arguing with Phaneuf homers is that no matter how bad he plays they ALWAYS make excuses for him. It's always some poop like "oh Randy played him too much, oh his partner sucks, oh berny let in a weak one, he can't do it all himself yadda yadda.. No he just isn't that good.

Typical Leaf quotes coming from same person....

"You know the leafs really need to give the younger guys a chance.... look at Anaheim"

"can't believe how crappy our team is... no depth.... Need to sign more veterans... cant believe we rely on Holland, Frattin and Granberg... they haven't proven anything..."

I was an idiot and left it in my car.

Not sure how the bumhole got in my car, I can only assume the door wasn't locked, though I swear a)I locked it and b)it auto-locks.

I'm just happy the idiot didn't see the digital camera sitting on my passenger seat, or open the trunk to see the other digital camera, lenses, and tripods there.
