It's amazing how many people don't understand the difference between realism and pessimism.
Being negative doesn't make you right.
It makes you UG. |

unless the leafs were offered some overpayment they couldnt say no to, dion wasnt going anywhere. the speculation is just stupid.
lets see the guys played with kostka, gunnersson and holzer
how the hell do you expect a #1D man to play with a number 5 or 8 dmen vs #1 lines 25 mins a game 82 games a year.
sure the caveman makes mistakes, they are just glaring because the other D man hes with suck the big one. - big_dion
You cant.
But
Dion is really not number 1 dman......on this team and maybe 11 other non playoff teams he is. But on a successful playoff team he is a 2nd or 3rd.
But we are stuck with him as our number 1...so what do we do?
Nonis has missed the boat so far, he really needs to pick up a quality defensive Dman to play with Dion and take away his mins and pressure.
Dion cannot be counted on to play quality mins over 22-23.
They need to get him quaity help....cause he isnt able to elevate the play of other lower players. |

I know you watch alot of hockey. However, you are an optimist. Im a realist (not saying im right, but you are forever optimistic regardless). We chatted before about prospects and how you love mckegg, brad ross. i said they're lucky to play a game in the show. We have differing opinions; leave it at that. But the Polak / Robidas moves are lateral at best so you can like them all you want; we're not better. And for the forwards we lost with zero replacements so far and hardly no free agents left, well, maybe im crazy but i think we are worse. And when the 22nd place team gets worse, it's ugly. - clark_griswold
Holy Crap. if they are worse like you say then be happy you will get a great draft pick, if they are better they will compete for a playoff spot, the whole idea to play the games is to compete to get into the playoffs. If they fall short then so be it.
You can female dog and moan that is not enough but every team's goal at the start of the season is to make the playoffs and a chance to compete for the cup.

Dion was a number 1 on a playoff team last year.
And prior to Bernier getting injured, was going to be a #1 d-man on a playoff team this season too.
But, ignore facts.

Depth is important and Legwand is still good for 40-ish points. He'll be MUCH cheaper than Bolland and is a very good 3rd line center. |

Big concern on the roster as it sits, two penalty killers at forward, actually only one full timer in Komarov and one part timer in JVR, I can see why the Leafs are interested in Legwand. |

I saw somebody say 4M for him. I think it's a bit high, and I'd like to see Holland get meaningful minutes.
I woulda brought McClement back at 1M to be 4th line C/PKer. Is there anyone else out there like that? |

You know what?
The Phaneuf situation reminds me a lot of Koivu.
He was loved by some, but hated by others. He wasn't a #1 Center, but was slotted in that position because the team had no one better to play at that position. He never won anything but his teams were mediocre at best. - Pecafan Fan
I am really surprised to hear you say that.
I agree with the assessment of Koivu as a player and what he was asked to do.
Obviously I don't know nearly what I think I know about Habs players or the fans views. I always thought Koivu was a heart and soul guy and fan favourite and team favourite with the Habs.
Phaneuf seems to be universally disliked by fans and players alike. |
