On here leaf fans love every move at first. Reason? All they watch is the leafs. They have no clue about the players we get. Then they see them play and call them crap. Robidas is no better than gleason. Both broken down warriors. Polak is tougher than gunnar (fights 2-3x a year and not a good fighter) but not as fleet of foot as gunnar. We lost depth scoring and gained nothing. But yeah we're way better. - clark_griswold
Actually dude, the reason I like the Robidas and Polak deals was because I've watched alot of the Blues and Ducks over the years. Nice try though.
And for the record I hated the Clarkson deal from the start. |

Gotta add Dallas to the mix too. I can respect Canucks fans optimism. Its a lot better then reading the negative comments about anything and everything thee Leafs do - coolehmon41
Canucks fans really only have 2 gears.
We are the eventual stanley cup champs for the upcoming season
and
Burn this city to the ground because the Canucks f'n suck
They usually switch back to gear 1 right around the free agency period |

The Canucks did get better. But is it only good enough to get them 9th place? If that's the case, it wasn't worth it. |

Raptors GM would of got Bolland sign for like 3m x 4yr
what a (frank)ing GM, everything he does is amazing, he could of picked Hunter Smith 8th and it would of panned out correct, (frank)ing guy is so sick |

It's frustrating cause it's not true.
We've lost scoring.
We gained a 3rd/4th liner that had a little chemistry for a little while during a HALF A FACKING season. Guess what the leafs would have made the playoffs this year had it only been 48 games too.
We traded for a 5th/6th dman and signed a 4th old injured dman and then overpaid for an energetic 3rd/4th liner.
We are so much better! - Fakepartofme
frattin was the best natural pair for kadri during his first stint. Nonis is looking for better cohesion, imo bringing him back was a positive step in addressing that. kadri and clarkson were always on different wavelengths.

Yep, a real nice option to move around the roster.
plus, if he views the Leafs like he did UND, it could be a great add

I like Frattin addition.
Komarov ok as well, although don't believe for a minute that he can deliver the promised points.
Not too fond about Robidas and Polak additions (I like Gunarsson as 3rd D, IMO a victim of Phaneuf's unreliable playing style. Gunarsson - Rielly would have been a great second pairing next season).
I like Kulemin and Grabovski as well, so not happy that they were let go over the last two seasons. Seems like Toronto does not do a great job of managing players, with RC's coaching style no wonder that more intelligent and empathetic players are scared away in favor of neanderthalers (0 class, 0 intelligence) like Phaneuf.
Taken this into account, Toronto will go and try to sign:
One of Ott / Legwand (will end up with Ott, since more 'neanderthaler' like) 3rd line C.
Konopka 4th line C. (faceoff%) or worst-case scenario bringing back Steckel.. If not, they'll just play Smith there.
Wouldn't be surprised if one of the following players was signed on a 1-2 year deal:
Penner / Stempniak / Setoguchi.
In goal, the obvious thing to do would be to keep Reimer.
Nontheless, Leafs will not do the obvious, and probably trade him (where??) and sign Vokoun/Bryz, or aquire a goalie in return in the trade for Reimer like Stalock from SJ, Labarbera from ANA).
Seems like strategy is to go with a cheap 4th line, and work out rest of team via trades (Franson, Reimer, Lupul).
Team for next year:
JVR - Bozak - Kessel
? - Kadri - Clarkson
Frattin - Ott - Komarov (4th line playing 3rd)
Leivo - Konopka - ? (McLaren/Biggs/Orr)
? - Phaneuf
Rielly - Robidas
Gardiner - Polak
Bernier
?
Surprisingly, this team might actually make the playoffs, but will be a typical first round loss in 4/5 games against NYI.

You think the victim was Gunnarsom?? You honestly like Gunner would have been better playing top pair minutes with someone else for the leafs? The victim was phaneuf playing with a 4/5 guy playing as a top pairing guy. phaneuf gets no credit for taking a bottom pairing guy and making him look useful. Phanuef needs a top pairing guy to play with. Look how much a top pairing guy like Weber suffered from having a young guy playing with. The phaneuf hate is ridulous around here.
Frattin is not a fourth liner he's 2/3 liner guy and he is young. Also Komarov is
more a third liner IMO.
Obvious thing is to keep Reimer? The guy poop the bed when we need him, why keep him. Cause he thinks he's a starter? If others thought the same think we d be getting trade offers that matter but we don't appear to be getting anything at all worthwhile or we would have trade him. |

Never said Gunarsson was a 1st line guy; I indicated he would be great on 2nd line with Rielly.
That being said, I do think that he suffered from playing with Phaneuf on 1st line.
Gunarsson is way better than people think; he will be great on St Louis 2nd Line with Shattenkirk for sure.
Reimer is best option for backup - he wasn't the reason for Leafs losing most of last 20 games of season; Leafs ran out of luck basically (whole season bad posession numbers, being outshot) and the timing was incidently on same time with Bernier's injury.
on Phaneuf: he's a clown, a neanderthaler, and not a winner. look at tying game iin game 7 against Boston, how he lets himself push away by Chara is pathetic. |

You can't demote Gunnarsson after asking way too much of him for the last 3-4 years; if you want to replace him in the 2 hole, you move him to a different team, not down to the 2nd or 3rd pairing, behind Rielly and Gardiner.
Agreed on Reimer. He'll resign here as the goalie market has dried up and he's a professional who'll play his ass off I bet. The tandem's in our favour and if he steals some games for us, it'll only improve his trade value.
Phaneuf getting pushed away by Chara? Tell me who you think could've prevented that from happening. |

$5 million?

No he wasn't, he played with ovechkin quite a bit. He just produced like a 3rd liner. |
