He's one of the most underrated star players in the league. I believe he has at least 3 years left in him which coincidentally is the amount of term he has left. - Ryan_Wilson
Alright im on board. Talk to your insiders and get the thought passed along to JR. |

Any interest in Dany Heatley? |

I don't get the Gibbons infatuation either. He can skate fast, but as a 4th liner, he needs to be able to take some abuse and when you're that small, your game better be skill not grit. In the playoffs Gibbons shelf life was what 2 games? - sammy87
Gibbons was one of the most exciting penguins to watch last year... a great pk'er and adds some nice speed to the bottom 6. I graded JR an A so far, if Gibbons doesn't come back then it drops to an B+ |

Is it wrong to enjoy the fact the Rags have signed two of the worst Penguin players in recent memory?

I worry about his durability. Outside of 1 playoff game, what did he really do last year? He was on the top line and was terrible. To me he is a PK specialists due to his speed. Not worth a roster spot IMO. |

With Conner gone as well, wonder if NY or PHI would be interested in Zach Boychuk? Then all the former useless plugs would be signed in the division. |

he makes the pk more dangerous and he seemed to improve throughout the year last year. His speed could help our 4th line get the puck deep and get us more o-zone starts. and I think his hands could get slightly better, lining him up to be a low double digit goal scorer. |

Terrible? Nah. Certainly not the ideal linemate, but he can hold his own for short periods of time. He had a couple of issues finishing, but the same can be said for pretty much every forward that's ever played with Sid at one time or another.
A cheap guy who can play on all four lines, kill penalties, and will always compete for less than a million dollars seems like a pretty good deal to me. |

Well we don't have to pretend that he is wearing oven mitts for gloves. His hands are plenty good enough.

Not sure what people expected of him but he def was one of our better players last postseason. IMO he was everything TK should have been but never was. Even as a 13th, Id rather him than Adams. Problem is he is UFA and Megna is RFA and they are effectively fighting for the same spot. |

Megna is fine. Gibbons too.
Gibbons won't be around much longer. He's an UFA and now that the dust is beginning to settle, someone's going to make a pitch to him and hope he's their poor man's Zuccarello. |

Because Martin only has a year left wouldn't it only make sense that a legit contender would want to give up something for him? I was against trading Martin, but now that we have Ehrhoff I'm warming up to the idea. I'm happy we signed Goc, I want him to play third line shutdown center. If we could move Martin for a top six and let Dupuis-Goc-I dont know play a shutdown role I would be all for it. I'm just afraid if we get a good top six winger they won't be able to figure it out with Sid and Dupuis will have to move back up to the 1st line. I think putting together a good shutdown 3rd line and getting Sid better matchups helps just as much as a new winger would.........Trade Sutter for a younger version of Dupuis. |

Conor Sheary could be the reason they haven't locked down Gibbons. He had a great postseason for WBS and is a similar kind of player. |

I tend to agree. I like Megna, but Gibbons is more versatile to me--center in a pinch and can bump into the top 6 if necessary...like a poor man's Jokinen. |

And Martin has a limited NTC. He's not likely to approve a trade to Winnipeg.
