Tomorrow: Day of Trading? (E4)
"talking to a few sources tonight tomorrow could see Evander Kane, Joe Thornton, Patrick Marleau, Dustin Byfuglien, and LeCavalier on the move.."

Would love to get Kane |

Idk what it would take but I'd give up a lot if we could get the contract to work...

Not sure why the Sharks would be interested in Sutter with Thornton/Pavelski/Cotoure all set. - hardnosed
your underestimating how unbelievably awesome Sutter is |

Ehrhoff helps with the loss of Niskanen/Orpiks. Take away Martin, have a huge question mark in Scuderi and remember we are without Maata to start the year...
That is a lot of expectations for Hoff and the young prospects to make up for - Le-Morte-dJames
If we are all being honest here, that was addition by subtraction. |

Insert sutter in place of chuck Norris for a new line of jokes

If it were same cap hit I'd take Orpik over Scuderi/Bortuzzo who are his replacements as it stands now |

I know you like to dump on things but he's really not a bad for for what this team is trying to do now. He'd play fine with Malkin. Now he's going to Vancouver so don't worry about it. - HopintheCordoba
I'm trying to figure out what exactly this team is trying to do now? Get older? Throw out tons of one-year contracts? Settle for second rate enigmas?
Vancouver saved us and grossly overpaid. Thank God.
By the way, I'm not the only one who dumps on things. |

I'm sure this came from the same sources that had Grabovski and Kulemin landing in Pittsburgh.
Honest question ... if there is pressure to get to the play-offs in Winnipeg and they need exciting players, why are they considering trading Evander Kane? Something to ponder. |

I wouldn't have minded orpik as a bottom 6 at, oh, 2..0 mil for 2 years |

Not that I put any credence into the rumors part of this site, but there has been too many rumors over the past couple years about them wanting to move Kane. Could all be bs, but that is a lot of ongoing rumors.
Doubt we will go for a big name/heavy cap hit but hey here's to hoping |

When rumors last for years, it calls their veracity into question. If the Jets wanted to move Kane that badly, they would have by now.
I have no doubt that they'd move him in a blockbuster, but multiple fanbases including the Penguins' are under the impression that Winnipeg just wants to get rid of him, and will accept scraps in order to do so, which they do not appear willing to do. |

I dont expect them to give him away, I dont even know what they'd really want but I'm assuming at least 1 NHL player, a top prospect and a high draft pick.

If the Penguins manage to sign Sutter/Spaling/Despres/Megna for the value of their qualifying offers (unlikely to happen), they'd have only 1.37 mil in cap space left. |

Until October in fact. But I don't think they'll let it come to that necessarily.

So the Penguins front office preached about "character". Give me a break. They traded their top sniper at wing because of that. So what do they do next? They sign a guy who is a piece of crap on the ice. Makes sense. If people complained about Neal and his senseless penalties Downie should surpass everything negative that Neal did here in a month. One of the more dirty players in the league. Maybe he can joke around with Sid about how he almost took out his knee a few years back. I understand trying to change your image and bringing in different guys who have better character but when you blatantly show how hypocritical you are when signing someone completely opposite, it just doesn't make much sense. Nor does it show that they are serious about doing so. This guy will have more of a negative impact than a postitive one with all the dumb penalties he will make. |

Guess character isn't based on our perception outside of the locker room. We all complained about the abuse Crosby and malkin took in the playoffs and I think downie can help with that. On top of that he can actually play. He's played on top lines with St. Louis and Colorado in his career. I'm not sure that's the player we are getting now but he should help this club. |

I personally like the steve downie signing. He will be the new cooke. He will be the best upgrade to our bottom 6 this year if he can keep things a bit under control. |
