We 're not getting any of those guys. We don't have anything they want. Not a good trade partner.

Isles still don't have the D to compete. They'll be in the playoffs though, barring injuries.

I'm thinking Kulemin signing elsewhere is a blessing in disguise cap wise. We'll see what GMJR has up his sleeve trade wise.

I'm all for clearing some space to make things work but if they opt not to and re-sign Sutter then there's even less space. A guy like Heatley or Setoguchi for the short term on a cheap deal would be okay to try.

I'd love if they look at Peter Mueller on a short and cheap deal as well.

Ideally being able to move Scuderi for the space would be there. Moving Martin isn't a must, but I can see them extending Ehrhoff and still playing Harrington and Dumoulin with bigger roles afterwards. Obviously Martin gets you a better return than just space as well.

At this point, I'd be done with the FA list and go trading. Just gotta find the right partner.

While I like the moves Rutherford made and the players he let walk as well as the terms our UFA pick ups were signed to, im not sure we're a better team now than we we're before the draft. I see most of these moves and this current team as a lateral move. Some thoughts:

1. We still have a top 6 winger issue, losing neal and jokes and only bringing in PH doesnt solve a deep issue weve had four 4? Seasons now.
2. Bottom six looks much better but were still paying craig adams money, why havent we bought this guy out?
3. Committed to a youth movement on defense but 4 spots are taken up by vets, 3 by guys over 30,...not much of a youth movement.
5. Like the fact that we havent reupped MAF yet, leaves us plenty of options.
6. Does sutter actually get more than 3m. I sincerly hope not, I think with the new acquisitions and him at 3mil we'll see a significant improvement to his and the third lines game.
7. Something has to budge to make this team better and more balanced. (because right now theyre still a 1-2 round playoff exit) those somethings are named scuderi and martin
8. The more I think on it the more I kind of like the steve "leglock" downie signing as long as that concussion doesnt have lingering effecrs

Chances are the Penguins add a top 6 F and you can add Bennett or Dupuis to that mix as well
