No, no, and where did you read this at? As far as I'm concerned, it's a non story. And more hilarious then anything.

Vinny had a lot of good moments last year, and a lot of teams did view him as a good #2C option that could be acquired on the cheap before getting their UFA targets. I wouldn't be terribly sad to see him stay next year.
- JAKEw1234

I'd like to see him go, for two reasons.

First, I don;t think he's a good fit for what Hextall & Berube say they're going to try to do-skating intensive, two way play with good puck support and attention to the 200 foot game.

Second, I want the younger guys to get a chance to shine. With Vinny here, Couturier is going to still be in a "shutdown" role and not get as much offensive opportunities. Same for Schenn, to a lesser extent-in terms of opportunities.

His childhood bedroom is full of Flyers memorabilia, and he's always wanted to play for the Flyers. So there will be a hometown discount!
- MJL

And this is why I regretted even mentioning his name. My comment was that he could be an option next offseason if they don't spend to excess for the sake of spending this year. Nothing to do with where he's from or who he rooted for. Just the fact that he'll could be a high end LW available come next summer, with LW being one of our weaker positions depth wise.

Sure, I'd rather see him go than stay. I could just come to grips with it pretty easily if he can't be moved. He's still a really likeable guy, great leader, and fun to watch when he's on his game.

I think everything you said there is reasonable, and makes sense. It's about his ability as a player and a team need. So there could be a fit there. But there's an element that thinks he's destined to play for the Flyers, because of where he grew up, and how big of a Flyers fan he was. I'm sure every NHL player grew up as a huge fan of a team. It doesn't determine where a player winds up.

He's next out of town...to St Louis for Pietrangelo, Tarasenko, Ty Rattie and their 2015 1st rounder.

It'll put the Blues over the top and they'll have two Cups in the next 4 years.

If he stays, I'll have a couple of tee shirts that will still be current

I do think if he stays that have to get him off the Schenn/Simmonds line

The Flyers will get the PR machine rolling and say they don't condone this behavior, and blah, blah, blah. But if I was them I'd simply have a laugh about and say hey Claude chill out. Have a good time but don't be feeling cops up!

And the media is going to make a big deal out of it, as if he committed a serious crime, and then the questions will start. And an element of the fan base will buy it. And this is how all the BS that was false started with Richards and Carter and how they were slandered here because they went out and had a social life in Olde City.

If Hextall pulls a trade like that off I'll name my first child Ron.

Do you know what actually happened that landed Giroux in jail? He must have been pretty out of control to end up in jail. It's not like he's 19 years old. The guy is a grown man who has accepted the responsibility of representing a multi million dollar company. Time to grow up. Because of who he is this IS a story. I'm all for the media attacking him over this. If you don't want this kind of attention don't act like a douche bag

Exactly. If he wants to come here and take a reasonable salary, great. I'm not gutting the team or signing him to a Giroux type deal
- Jsaquella

someone will give it to him. You wonder with ottawas money issues if it will be them. but someone will.

and i just cant see it. those guys pushing 8 and above should be your franchise center/defenders.

ryan is a solid 30/35 goal scorer. damn good player. but not your franchise guy.
