karma

- Marc D

I don't believe in karma, but I'm sure there is some offer sheet residue on this non-deal

At this point, is he really that much worse than Vinny? At least the guy can still skate and play some D. 1-year, $2.5M... no brainer for them.

If by that you mean "not on the Flyers," then I agree

Yes, but lots of cap hurdles to clear. Probably a no-go. RT @dunnc0210: @BroadStBull any possible trade negotiations for Evander Kane?

If Vinny stays I guess that locks in Schenn at wing? I can't imagine they want to experiment with Vinny on the wing again?
- funmaster18

If Vinny stays and stays at center, I want him to be the 3rd line center. Couts needs to move up to the second line to continue to grow.

Couturier is basically 2nd line already. he played 2nd line minutes. His job is to shutdown opposing offenses. If he doesnt do it. No one will.

Yeah, either "3C" on a super-sheltered offensive line (preferably not with Simmer/Schenn), 4C w/ guys that can skate (and maybe score an odd goal), or in the popcorn suite. Anywhere else, his liabilities become an issue.

I think he'll surprise us to begin the season. He's got something to prove. what I don't know is if he'll stay healthy or not through the season I see him declining much like last season. Start strong and then fizzle down.
I also have no doubt that Berube isn't scared to sit him if he's not playing to potential. I hope that won't be the case. But I do think that he's going to be just fine.

Sure. I think he makes the team better.

I have no problem with him on the team.

The contract is OK, and seems close to fair market value for a guy his age at UFA who can play 20 minutes a game.

My only point is, keep the 2 picks, and make him the offer July1st. Just my opinion.

I think Hexy is a GM who will value those picks and hold onto them.
The team seems short on prospects. If they hit on someone in the 2nd or 3rd round who can make the team while on their entry level deal it is a huge win.

- Marc D

They could do that. But they also lose out on the player if he decides to go elsewhere. The same way the lost out when they let Carle go. And lost out on Suter and Weber.

And it's possible that's what they wanted to pay Lecavalier, and wanted the Flyers to retain the rest.

They need to get better as a team defensively, so they can lessen the load on Couturier. And get him more ice time in better offensive situations, and better matchups.

Ew, yeah if they wanted us to retain 2M for 4 years. Um no thanks. Nice talking to you. We'll keep Vinny.
