Honestly, if Vinny can come back healthy and play the way he did over the first quarter of last season... We had a great offseason... I mean, if you figure we didnt really do anything stupid.

If Vinny stays I guess that locks in Schenn at wing? I can't imagine they want to experiment with Vinny on the wing again?

I am one of those who still believes that Schenn seems better suited as a wing when I factor in his skill set.

They just have to leave him there.

Off to work hooligans. This Giroux thing is like a dream topic for me.

Unleash the peanuts and have fun with it.

I think it is time to resolve ourselves that Vinny needs to be our second line center, and he needs a playmaking winger.

Schenn Giroux Simmonds
Akeson Vinny Voracek
Umberger Couturier Read
Bella Laughton Raffl

Agreed. Look it isn't that bad. Vinnie is a 20-25 goal scoring Center, 30 in the right situation. Remember he only played 60 some games and a lot of it on the 4th line, and still eeked out more points than most anyone on Nashville (edit okay well he would have been a top scorer on Nashville). We can't move him now because we are in a position of weakness.

At least we weren't desperate enough to sign Olli Jokinen...

Totally off-topic question:

I'm having trouble with my Outlook, it won't send messages (didn't change any of my settings). So I want to uninstall it and reinstall, but don't want to lose either my or my wife's messages. What is the name of the file that stores the mailboxes, and where is it stored? I've done it before, but I forget how.

I read a lot of comments about AMac and his deal and comparing them with other UFA signings yesterday.

I think from what I've seen from Hexy so far, I don't expect to see him use 2nd and 3rd rounders to acquire rentals at the TDL in the future. At least not where the team is right now. They need more depth and youth in the system badly.

Personally I think it is the wrong way to go. If they identify and wanted Amac on the team that is fine. My opinion is not to spend the assets and get it done after the season. Getting into one playoff round was not worth the 2 draft picks.

Good backup plan... maybe without the Ott signing. Unless it's a one year deal after the season starts and Pronger is on LTIR.

i'm not sure why that is exactly, and this is why i hate the (frank)ing cap, but that's what i thought...there was just no simple escape clause.
- hammarby31

Because it the becomes money out of the system. And teams hiding big contracts in the minors. Defeats the entire purpose of holding down player salaries.

Will be curious to see how long it takes until Streit falls into the same category as (frank)ing Wheels.

The genius of Paul. Sigh.

- flyer_nutter

Isn't this criticizing Holmgren for something that might happen? What if Streit continues to play well throughout his contract?

Not certain this has to do with Vinnie but there is a chance the top line is Schenn/G/Jake as Schenn might be the best option for #1 left wing as of now.

If they go that route, then I think the 2nd line in terms of ice time will be Read/Couts/Simmer (or Umberger)

Vinnie would be centering a 3rd line with one of Simmer/Umberger I guess.

Not sure what the plan is for Laughton. My guess is Hexy still tries to bring in a vet for the 4th line center this summer.

The potential payoff of that trade goes deeper then just last season, doesn't it? He's still on the team.

Sure. I think he makes the team better.

I have no problem with him on the team.

The contract is OK, and seems close to fair market value for a guy his age at UFA who can play 20 minutes a game.

My only point is, keep the 2 picks, and make him the offer July1st. Just my opinion.

I think Hexy is a GM who will value those picks and hold onto them.
The team seems short on prospects. If they hit on someone in the 2nd or 3rd round who can make the team while on their entry level deal it is a huge win.
