I think the simplest solution is to move Eriksson into a top 6 role. I liked what I saw from him at the end of the year when he was healthy for a while. Also, anybody know anything about the possible trades PC mentioned.
- Glatt-iator

I agree, Eriksson should fit well in the top six. No idea who PC is trying to trade for. I am still wondering if there is any thing to the Vrbata rumors I have heard.

Well we don't have much to give him. I have a feeling Kelly and/or mcquaid are going to be traded. Really amazed at the difference between $69 and $70M

Not really, they can't do much because of the cap. They are exploring trade options.

moving him to a top 6 role doesn't make him a top 6 player...
wasn't impressed with him at all, too soft, skates with his head down...

This Cap issue is all Chia's doing.. too many players overpaid too early. Its part of why Seguin had to go (among other rumors) and even on the lower end, guys like Kelly, too much,... and their hands are tied with everyone and their pet cat getting a no trade clause.

he absolutely is top 6. he was concussed twice last year and that doesn't make him soft. he actually was playing very well down the stretch and he and soderberg developed a chemistry.

Lots of smoke surrounding JB at the moment. With him set to be UFA next year and a bunch of other guys to extend, might make sense to get some good value for him now if the team doesn't think they can afford him after this year.

Bryan Murray mentioned Sens were looking at a C in the $3M range via trade, obv no guarantee he's speaking of CK, but given the ties and the likelihood of the B's wanting to free up his salary, would make sense.

don't like the thought of moving boychuck right now, defense is thin already, and he's currently affordable, I get it that they probably wont be able to resign him next year, but whose gonna play D? Bart?

millar.

can't keep them all. i think the organization would say they have a bit of depth at D. remember seidenberg will be back.

Wouldn't rule out a cheap vet either once the dust settles. Certainly not ideal and I'd prefer to have JB on the team without a doubt, but you're exactly right, PC said as much. Especially with him likely going to hit the jackpot next year, might be the right choice in terms of getting max value.

Based on yesterday, wouldn't be surprised in the least to see him hit $5M especially if the cap bumps significantly.

Well, Im not here to make an argument of it. I just remember the look of astonishment on iginlas face standing behind Lucic in the hand shake line up.

Whether or not any of those things were a factor who knows.

- vancity787

That was the 1st time in history something stupid was said in the handshake line between 2 bitter rivals. I'm still in therapy.

I was surprised. I figured they would be busy. With an abundance of D men, I figured big move..

He impressed me when he played on the first line for that little while. If not him Soderberg is a big body with a scoring touch. He may not put up the numbers Iggy did but he might be able to play a similar style. Spooner could slide into the third line and Florek/Fraser/Caron plays fourth line

trade chara and Kelly. two dinosaurs that take up over 10 million in cap. easily replaceable if you ask me. charas play has heavily declined over the past two seasons
