Sharp would give a huge boost to our offense as well as bring a huge leadership component we are sorely lacking. I could also see them bringing him in with this in mind and giving him the C right at the presser. Don't overlook the fact he lead the Hawks in scoring in the regular season last year as well.

Leddy would add to the logjam on defense but be an upgrade over many of our current D men. He is also only 23 and has 54 playoff games of experience under his belt.

Shipping out Smith would hurt our Centre depth no question, but Grant or Pageau could take that 4th line centre spot.

I'm praying there is no truth to that Sharp rumour. If we trade away Lazar (the type of player that will wear a letter one day) I'm honestly done with this team until Murray is gone.

Add to the fact that Chicago NEEDS to dump salary, being 2.3 mil over the cap. Them taking on Greening though is basically giving us a piece.

I'd say a deal like Smith, Greening and a prospect (Puempel, Prince, Stone, Guptill, etc) gets that done and is fair, no?

- Jordo
Thats fine but we cant trade another center without getting one back .We have turris ,zbad ,? and smith ,And really how the (frank) is Sharp worth more than spezza anyhow ??Leddy isnt a piece that make him worth more either ,if it seabrook or hammer then we could talk

I just don't like the idea of adding a guy like Sharp after getting a rid of a guy like Spezza. Seems backwards. Although I really like Sharp as a player. I would like the addition of Leddy as well. I think people are underestimating his value here in this thread. I, like everyone else here, wouldn't trade Lazar. That's a huge prospect piece, but then again, he hasn't proved squat. I'd like to see a smaller deal for Leddy.

Remember folks, if Eklund is reporting it that means it won't happen. I pray not the Lazar part at the very least!

Thats the thing its not Eklund. Its Jaeckel who usually doesn't get things wrong.

Eghhh I don't know how to feel about the possibility of this deal. I can't see chicago taking it without including lazar but if we could somehow someway get it done without including lazar I would be ecstatic

i actually think they're gonna roll the dice with allen....the guy has been a brick wall at every level, i think they believe he's ready, which is why they didn't even try to re-up miller.
- sensarmy_11

This is true. They are going to try and have Allen take over as the #1.

Elliott is a very good backup. It could become a problem if Allen has a bad year and we have to start to rely on Elliott as our starter.

The bright side is our defense is just as good, if not better than last year. And our offense is going to be much better. Getting both Stastny and Lehetra gives us the ability to move Backes back to RW, which will likely mean more scoring from Backes. (especially with a very good center on his line) And Steen, if he stays healthy, will be very good again this year with a true center feeding him the puck as well.

Lehetra is a very good playmaker as well, and has a history of playing well with Tarasenko. They were on the same line the year before Tarasenko came over to NA and played very well together. The last two years, Lehetra has been very good in the KHL, basically a point per game player over there. Also played well in the Olympics.

Increased offense, same or slightly better defense, that will help with a young goalie in net. The Blues don't give up a ton of shots, so Allen will be protected back there. Still, that is the biggest concern for the Blues.

JJ is pretty good, but he basically throws out everything he is hearing at times. So obviously a lot of what he says is not actually going to happen. Doesn't mean that teams were not talking about the players he posted about.

So many people on here think these guys are posting facts. They are posting what they are hearing most of the time. I don't get fans jumping on them when things don't actually go through. GM's talk all the time, most of the time with nothing coming out of those talks.

definitely not jumping on him.....just pointing out the fact that he's no more of an insider then any other blogger. i find a lot of people seem to give him a lot more "credit" for being an "insider" then perhaps he deserves.

i think you're right, he just posts everything he hears, no matter how likely or unlikely. sometimes he gets it right, most times he gets it wrong. JJ is pretty much the same as EK, IMO.

No biggie, that wasn't a shot at you per say, more in general.

Way too many people take what is posted in rumors as actual deals that will happen. Too many don't get what a rumor is in general I guess.

Jeez this blog went through the rafters since yesterday.

Chiming in on the Spezza deal now isn't really needed much other then I think Chiasson will prove his worth here to ease the blow being the type of player Ottawa needed. This kid sees the ice really well. He plays like Landeskog does.

With this so called Chi rumor, I was wondering when that monster would resurface it self. How ever the parts that are rumored incl on Ottawa's side I hope Lazar is not the prospect involved but at the same time who knows what this kid can really do, and we are chalk full of young talent.

Is that to say let him go not entirely the case but in Sharp you have a proven big game player who you can garuntee will put up points and has speed to create havoc on the rush. With Leddy you have another young Def on the bubble of either a top 3 or bottom 3 def depending on how the next few seasons play out for him. To me that is the xfactor since he has the potential still to become that top guy to run our second line pair to ease the pressure on Karlsson.

Final thought on it could you imagine a healthy Ryan with Mac/Turris, and then Sharp with Zibby/Chiasson or how ever they push those lines around. That would give Ott 2 solid offensive lines that could do damage to teams. Not to mention if we find a way to off load some of the def in that jam the top 4 def would be Karlsson/Methot and (Hopefully rebounded) Cowen/Leddy. That is a pretty solid top 4 def anywhere in the league.

Edit.. edit... edit.. it seems. Anyways rumor I still hear is Sens still after Berglund from Stl from another Sens site.

The worst part is it was outside The Cabin which is basically where all the 17,18 year olds try to sneak in.

Clearly he was just wall papered drunk running wild.

Moving Lazar now would be a disaster. He's the closest thing to a 'Toews type' player that we have and to be honest, the only prospect worth getting excited about

He's a winner and a leader. The type of player that wins you a championship one day

I'm not saying he's going to be anywhere near the level of Toews but look how similar they are. Both good two way forwards that wont ever be PPG type guys, but make up for it with defensive play, faceoff ability, penalty killing, and coming up big when it counts. He will likely wear a letter in Ottawa one day and possibly captain the World Jr team this year (if Murray lets him go)

I'm sorry, but if Murray moves him out now it'll be a mistake
