Old is old. He wanted $6m for 17 goals. Time for everyone to move on. He should have retired.
- spatso

Exactly!

He was 40+ at the time. Not 30.

He isn't even sure he is playing next year. Sens pick the worst way to get rid of star talent, but the end result is what is needed.

Even if the Sens had $, do you want to give spezza 5-7 years at 7-8 mill per? Given his injury history? I'm not so sure

It was never my intention to slam people or a team on their own thread. So, step back. Speak clearly, respectfully and honestly and people will respond to you. Play games and people will push back.

Says the fellow that can barely read and write and has called me dumb several times. Now you look hypocritical and condescending in addition to stupid. Well done. Very impressive.

Free agents sign for 2 things. Money, and chance to win. Right now Ottawa can't provide either. Moulson and Gionta signed in Buffalo. Are they a contender? No. But they did pay them nicely. Brad richards took a huge pay cut for a chance to win in Chicago. Unless ottawa can atleast show that they are attempting to win, they will never attract anybody. You can't even keep the players you have.
- cburgess

Oh for God's sake everyone has gone to bed because you idiots keep babbling about things you don't understand. Buffalo signings are for the sole purpose of getting to the cap floor. They overpay to get their salaries up.

Sorry but we is just entirely without merit your trying to gain attention to yourself by passing comments that have been debated by Senator fans for an entire year. I have been highly critical of ownership and the impact is has had on choices that have been made. I wanted Spezza traded last year. I opposed the Bobby Ryan deal. But, I did it respectfully and with courtesy. Senator fans were tolerant and respectful of my opinions. Often without vigorous disagreement.

As you know I had hoped that Spezza would have brought enough assets that they could be flipped for Kane. Would you give up Chiasson, Stone and Peumple plus a second round pick in 2015 for Kane.

I am a huge Kane fan but that price would cause me to pause.

I probably would if we don't have to throw in the second...and change prince for puempel....id probably still do it with puempel

Hate to admit it, but I have to agree at this point in time.

My position has nothing to do with the trade outcome and is simply directed at the actions taken by management. Very disapointing. Anyone with any amount of negotiating experience would recognize Murray made his weak position even more soft with the manner in which he conducted himself.

Not at all. I periodically engage in this because Sens fans are incredibly tolerant of debate and different opinion. So, I am sure it is amusing to some to see me argue against your interventions. Some of the stuff your saying I said two years ago. Most if it is pretty accepted. So what is your point other than being disrespectful.

Just so naive. People respect behavior, outcomes and honesty. Do you really think smart people in the hockey world would have been fooled if Murray had stood up and said "I am confident that we can fix the relationship with Jason."

Was rather shameful and sad how Alfie left town. After all those years and all he did for that team, city/community..disgraceful.

Yeah, sorta like Guy Lafleur...and Saku Koivu......and now Gionta.

Oh yes, I am sure the manner in which Murray conducted himself with Alfie and Spezza have gained him lots of currency with his players and the rest of the league.

Are you really this stupid?

Okay, it is time for you to say goodnight. You can come back and visit tomorrow if you like. But, remember to play nice, use your inside voice and try not to disrespect other people.

Its the way he does things. Why did he have to announce to the world that Spezza requested a trade? Just keep that to yourself and do your job.

Gionta played there for 4 years. He did not get drafted by montreal. Spezza and alfie were both long serving sens. I agree with the way koivu was treated, but that was by different management

That is most certainly your best course of action when you are getting your ass handed to you. It is better than just calling everyone stupid and then looking for respectful dialogue.

I am sure everyone will miss you.

Joke.

No, that is a good question. The media relations people would have told him that negative matters of a crisis nature require that you get in front of the issue. Never deny or minimize the serious nature of the problem.

So, if Murray had said nothing, gone through draft day and then done the trade today do you think the media and fan response would be better. Media relations would say he did everything the right way.

Still spouting garbage? I thought you said good night?

Truly you think too much of yourself. You need to sober up and reread this thread tomorrow and learn from your numerous mistakes. You are so full of crap that you must be in terrible pain.

Can you call us all stupid again and then ask us to treat you with respect?

But it is always that way. I am still angry with the Leafs for the way Sundin was treated. Gilmore was treated shamefully but that was repaired some when they brought him back. It really is always the same story. Guys get older. Skills decline. But they still want top money and ice time.
