I got say i ve been impressed today with his moves. - Yeti1181
I'm (frank)ing amped up man. I'm very impressed.
We are stronger defensively, harder to play against, avoided doing anything retarded.
I am absolutely confident we make the playoffs. |

Niskanen +33
Phaneuf +3
I'd rather Niskanen on the ice up by a goal.. Or down by a goal... Or tied. Anytime really. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Niskanen- Played on the 2nd best team in the Eastern Conference
Phaneuf- Played on the 12th best team in the East |

Yes, it would have made the Leafs instantly better. - ThePresident
And what if Nonis offered Stastny 7 million per year and he didnt take it? Then what?
How do you know he didnt offer him that? |

Which is true but 5.5 for a guy to play 3rd line minutes is a waste. Komarov does everything else and costs is almost half as much.
Plus considering to keep McClement we would have paid him 2M or so Komarov offers more to the Leafs. - Steven_Dean
Don't get me wrong here, I REALLY like Komarov and what he brings to the team. I just think it was a little too much money and a little too much term. |

Matta was a rookie no?
Ya I know he's on a better team, but he doesn't turn the puck over as often as Dion does. And he doesn't seem to get as tired as Phaneuf does. - Arctic_AARDVARK
Because Phaneuf plays tougher harder minutes...and look who Phaneuf has to pass to...And Matta was still better than Gunnar and Franson... |

Nobody said Boyle was an overpayment. Pretty unanimously realized he left money on the table to sign with NYR.
Stastny is an overpayment, that's horrid for him. And Nonis would have had to beat that by at leaf $1 m per to get up to even think about it.
Robidas is not overpaid, and Boyle was clearly never an option. Robidas next best option. Didn't want erhoff - Big_Lightnin
I wanted Ehrhoff, but he clearly wasn't an option either. |

Yes it was but that is the cost of UFA. I'm not worried about him floating, he does not play that way. |

Stats is clearly a better and more well rounded player than b Richards but in terms of production he got 9 more points than b rich. 7 mil is an over payment. That payday might (frank) that locker room up as it's full of guys who took below market value to help the team. |

Good reasoning.
You're ASSuming Leafs didnt try to sign him.
Its hard signing a player when his mind is already made up once playoffs are over. |

Okay ya I see that.. Y'know why Toronto was 12th? Because Dion is poop an can't lead or do (frank) all. That's why.. Maybe if Phaneuf didn't cough up the puck all game the Leafs would be better. He still plays with Kessel and JVR but those guys really suck. |

Weber plays for Nashville so I'm not sure that works either. Sometimes one player can't make all the difference. |

As long as he goes out there, hits everyone, and lays it all on the line, like he usually does, ill be happy |

It's the term, the way he plays he could be injured often. But so be it, it's not a cap killer I guess. |

Oh well. There you go then. Hard to argue against that. You are right, it's the Leafs, probably never even heard of Statsny. We should all stop posting on HB because it's a waste of time. I'll text you when it's worth coming back. |
