I'm beginning to think that the moves the Leafs made is probably best for the team in the long run. Robidas replaces gunnarson easily and Polak is a relatively large improvement over Gleason. It's too bad we had to buy-out Gleasons contract, but it serves us better to try to bring in better players. Komarov at $2.9 mil is crazy and he definitely doesn't replace Kulemin, on the other hand Kule may be looking for more than $4 mil and I doubt the Leafs can afford that for a 3rd liner (hence saying goodbye to Bolland). Raymond will likely be replaced by Leivo or another call up.

Overall the team has become better defensively but we need to address some holes up front.

That's the difference between me and you. You are okay with missing the playoffs because you think it would benefit the team in the long run. I see it as being harmful to the team. Kessel JVR Kadri Phaneuf are all in their prime or coming close to it, why waste time to try to sign a couple 18yr olds? It would hurt their confidence and I for one have wasted enough of my life not watching the Leafs in the playoffs. If we were guarenteed McDavid it might pay off, but we're not. Let's keep going in a forward direction here. You might have lots of time to kill, but I'm tired of it. End Rant.

You are correct. A losing environment hurts player growth, in order for the team to grow they have to make the playoffs consistently.
This I'm ok with losing is just foolish leaf fan mentality.

I think they are hoping Frattin still has chemistry with Naz and if he doesn't who care D'Amigo wasn't going to make it anyways. And Komarov... Already the fan favorite..

I can't get on board with the idea that the team got worse because they lost all that posession with Grabovski and Macarthur.

Would Grabovski and Macarthur kept Bernier from getting injured, because last I checked the Leafs were in 3rd in the east until Bernier went down and Reimer sh1t the bed.

They didn't miss all that possession for 65 games, but they suddenly missed it for 15 games?

they rely heavily on unsustainable play..which ends up correcting and you go on long losing streaks once the sv% and sh% tanks...

having good possession players and playing the game more in the other teams end..getting more shots and giving up less allows you to survive those down trends.

continually blaming Bernier getting injured as the reason they lost just puts blinders on..they sucked all season.. the standing were a mirage then.. the season is 82 games.

Has Gleason actually been bought out? or just cleared waivers? theres a difference
