If the pens or caps dont pay up, Kulemin could be resigned too
- jimi james

Don't think pens can do it. I believe grabo and kuli will go to the same team.

How pathetic are the Leafs ...

Our fan base is now happy if the team doesn't make any horrible mistakes on July 1.

Gotta start somewhere
- Yeti1181

It really is pretty telling that the best we can hope for is really bad stuff not happening... any significant good stuff happening is pretty much a pipe dream.

... yes, but we did not replace them with difference makers.

I was relieved that the Leafs didn't make any catastrophic mistakes yesterday, but I also don't see where the team looks like it will improve from last year.

- Aetherial

I would rather have Frattin at $800,000 than Raymond at 3mil plus, that is a silly contract for a floater. At least Frattin will battle along the boards and actually knock people off the puck. Really liked them bringing him back.

James Mirtle @mirtle
Nonis says they liked chemistry team had two years ago and felt Frattin and Komarov were big part of that.

too bad the players that really made that team better are gone

Well, Bolland is pretty close. Would love to have had him back, but definitely not at that price.

But ya, everyone else replaceable from within, and Gunnar ably replaced with Robidas
Gleason with Polak

- Big_Lightnin

Bolland wasn't a factor after the return from injury and the offer from the leafs was more than fair, in fact it was uncomfortably fair. Despite what Grapes says, its not Doug Gilmour we are talking about here.

Who? MacArther who plays good for the first year of a contract then is crap or Grabovski, the human zamboni and giveaway machine?

I truly believe that Nonis and Carlyle are bottom-5 coach/GM duo in the league.

Add in the fact that the our core players have absolutely zero heart and I really wonder where the culture change comes from.

A 37 year old D man?
A 3rd/4th liner who runs around and hits but doesn't score much?
Trading one Dman for a not-better Dman and throwing in a draft pick?
Bringing back a 3rd/4th line forward by trading another 3rd/4th line forward?

Can you imagine if the Leafs organization ran the Ontario Medical system? We would be putting bandaids on people in a coma... and paying a million bucks for each bandaid.

... come to think of it ...

your opinion aside... they were the best possession players they had.. its no surprise the team got worse.

its fine to not like a player for those things you mention..but look at them without the bias. since they are gone now..they suck

giveaways is a stupid stat... yes you give up the puck more if you have it more...the leafs need those players

No Grabovski gave the puck away in his own zone that lead to many goals against, that is not possession, its stupidity, low hockey IQ.

obviously yeah,

I just think a good coach can teach defense (Leafs fans know nothing of this), but a lot of offensive instincts can't be taught.

It also isn't like he won the award suddenly. He was tearing it up all year.

He was probably starting to look at Europe until we got him back. Now hes got a 2nd chance. I expect a good year out of him.

2 million for a 50 plus point player is good value.
