I agree. I hafta to say I don't know much about helm

Lightning fast. Great penalty killer. Can provide some offense, but not a high-end offensive guy. Been injured alot of over the past two years. Similar to Hags in ways in the his speed is a real threat, and when he gets out into open ice he's a hand full, especially in the PK.

Pretty interesting that Dan Boyle was in England on July 1st enjoying vacation following his favorite band Faith No More. I think he knew all along he was going to be a New York Ranger, no need to stress over the offers lol.

Helm for tanner glass!!!

Been doing some research on Glass. Here was his writeup as a prospect:
Glass is a reliable, hard-working two-way forward noted for his great leadership. He is a player who leads by example and will do whatever it takes for the betterment of his team. Glass is a fierce competitor who isn’t afraid to mix things up. His quickness and speed allows him to win many battles to loose pucks. He is defensively responsible and can play in virtually any type of situation. Glass possesses a good shot with a very quick release. He has good on-ice vision and awareness and anticipates remarkably well. He plays with a very active stick and excels almost equally in making passes as he does in taking away passing lanes. Glass is also strong along the boards and in the corners. He has also demonstrated a knack for scoring timely goals

Playing style section off Wiki:
Glass has established himself as primarily a third- or fourth-line forward in the NHL.[3][18] His speed and work ethic make him effective on the forecheck and responsible defensively.[3] A physical and aggressive player, he is also known to be a fighter.[3] He has also been identified as a leader on his teams, serving as an alternate captain Rochester in the AHL,[6] as well as a captain with Dartmouth during his college career.

Bylsma after signing him on free agency after the lockout:
"We wanted to get Tanner Glass as soon as we could on July 1. It was the first call that I made, and I made it for a number of reasons," said Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma. "He's a guy that can play up and down your lineup. He can play a defensive role situation, he's got a lot of sandpaper and grit in his game, penalty killing aspect to his game, as well... and his speed and skating is very good. He's a big addition to what we've tried to do and is going to play a big role."

Reading this stuff makes Glass grow on me a bit. He seems like a good-skating gritty checker. Consistent. Great PKer. He can fight and provide energy. Reliable in his own zone. Above all else, he seems like a great guy in the lockerroom and behind the scenes. A lead by example kinda guy. Reminds me of Prust from these descriptions.

I told you guys he was going to sign with the Rangers last week. Throw enough darts at the dart board, and eventually one will hit the bullseye, or something like that.

Dont understand B. Boyle. for $500K more he left a team that has gone to the SCF and ECF in the past 3 years. IMO, he didn't really have a small role, it was quite large in NY. He was our go to faceoff guy, top PKer, top shut down center. He gets TONS of scoring chances that he cannot finish. He is probably a top 5 fan favorite. His role in NY was HUGE. It wasn't about the money, thats evident but what does he expect? Tampa gonna make him their top center? Play him with Stamkos? Its not like he didn't have the chance in NY, if he converted his opportunities, he would have played more scoring roles. Just weird to me that he left when we were so close to a Cup.

Same with Callahan, priced himself out only to take a contract that would probably have been okay. Gave up the Captaincy to NY, and again, left a team that is a top 5 contender IMO. So weird.

He probably wants to be able to score 30 goals but he forgot you need to have 30 goals in his stick. I've seen enough from him to know he can't hit 20 ever again. He had a niche here which it will probably be the same niche there.

I just really don't think the Rangers made a push for him, probably because they though he would be too expensive. I wonder if they told him something like we will keep you at your current salary ($1.8 million), which is less than you can get from Tampa or somewhere else, but we'll give you the extra year, 4 years instead of 3, what he would have said. There didn't appear to be any offer at all.

Come on guys. Brian Boyle wanting a bigger role doesn't mean he actually thinks he can be a top 6 forward and 20+ goal scorer.

It means he wants to be appreciated for what he does, and not seen as a trash hockey player.

Now, I am sure the coaches and teammates didn't treat him like that. But we did. The fanbase ran Boyle out of town. I have no doubt about it.

Would you want to play in a building when your own fans boo and whine at you every time you are not Gretzky? If I am a bottom 6 forward, NYR would be the last organization I wanted to play for.

Come on dude, seriously. Boyle was not booed once as a player. He wasn't making enough money or important enough for the fans who choose to boo. They have way bigger targets like Nash & MSL.

I went to 10+ games in MSG this past season, and at each of them there were people heckling Boyle for everything he did. Yeah, there was never a fully sustained boo, but the collective groaning and whining is just as audible, worse probably.

Again, I think the "bigger role" is just a metaphor for being appreciated.

Then people are idiots and were swayed too much by the 20 goals without realizing all the little things he did. Plus, during the playoffs, he was almost canonized, so unsure that's why he left.
