Vin was freaking out all day yesterday and when asked who he thought was the biggest loss he said BRIAN BOYLE.

If our biggest loss is Brian Boyle...I think we're in good shape

- rangerdanger94

B Boyle was a significant loss, but not a critical one. I would say our biggest loss was Stralman. He's not at the same level as Staal or McD, but Stralman and Staal were a solid #2 pairing. I am not sure I would have risked messing with it for the same $$$ spent on a guy 10 years older.

I'm glad we didn't lose Dom moore as well. Losing both would have been a huge blow to the 4th line and in the faceoff circle. Not to mention the pk. I have no clue why we signed glass to that deal and not have payed the extra 500k for Boyle though. Maybe he was asking more since there isn't tax in Florida?

Loved the Dan Boyle deal. It's always nice when a player takes less to sign and wants to be part of the team. I have no concern about his age since it's only 2 yr deal and he can still skate. Finally someone with the ability to carry it up ice and set up the PP. Plus he is a righty. I get wet thinking of him and mcd running the first unit

We replaced Stralman with Dan Boyle. I might even argue that's an upgrade.

Not defensively. And you'd think he'd be an upgrade on the power play right.......

Saying Stralman is good but overrated is
Not pissing on him. I like the guy's game but
Just don't think that one solid season necessarily
Justifies 4 years at 4.5 mil.
I like Pouliot as well but sure as hell wouldnt give him
Anything close to what he got from Edmonton. The open
Market is a madhouse of risk taking and doesn't
Represent actual value.
If Stralman was to maintain and improve -even just a little-
His game over the course of the contract it will be worthwhile
But he hasn't done it long enough IMO to pay him that much
Yet. To a degree, Slats even has a point with Zucc who has had
Only One good season thus far.
Does it justify giving him a Big 4 year deal? Personally I love the
Player and his attitude and would Do it but there is a precedent to not
Jumping the gun. Leino?

- BobbySchmautz

Stralman had more than 1 solid season and he was one our stand outs when it mattered the most, the playoffs, comparing Leino is another insult

It's not the same money, stralman received 5 years and 4.5 per in a state without income tax. That is a significant difference. I remember at the mid way point of the season when everyone wanted him gone because of how brutal he was playing. He was god awful for at least a month and turned down the 9 mill offer. He sure didn't seem to want to stay from everything reported. Boyle is a huge upgrade for the point and offensively

somebody with some free time has to go through past blogs to find all the times Vin ripped Brian Boyle
- jimbro83

I've said plenty of times how I used to despise Boyle and couldn't wait for him to be gone, a lot of people did but his playoff performance won me over, I just saw a leader out there that will be missed, you for one have pointed out what turnover has done in the past and what it did to the 2012-13 team

The only thing that puzzles me the most from yesterday is the Glass signing. I slept on it, and I still see no positive with that signing. Do I think this makes the team significantly worse, not really. I look at it as a money issue, and we have Haley who does exactly what Glass does, but is younger, faster and cheaper.

I'm only speaking the truth in all seriousness, I wasn't angry with how yesterday went for us. Glad we got Boyle and resigned moore. Some of the contracts that players received were outrageous. Orpik had to be the worst. Also helped some players when you had teams like buffalo trying to reach the minimum. How the (frank) did pouliot get 5 yr 20 million? That has disaster written all over it.

I'm probably one of the few that wanted Pouliot back, but that is insane money for him. Congrats on him for getting payed.

Yeah, what a (frank)ing bargain that would have turned out to be. Understandably though, he was a reclamation project, and if the Rangers would have done that last year, we would have all been pissing and moaning about that too, including myself.

Looking back now yea, but we would have hated that last summer. The dude was basically not sure he would be in the NHL if this past season didn't go the way it went. Giving him 3 years would have been madness

I don't think Dan Boyle has regressed so much defensively that he can be considered a significant "downgrade" to Stralman in that regard though either.

I don't think any team in the league has literally 0 turnover. The Rangers are currently sitting with Dan Boyle and Tanner Glass as new players. Only 2 new players isn't really drastic turnover.
