Sweet -- yeah I work for a network of Charter Schools in Brooklyn that is probably some of the top schools in NYC (Not counting tuition private schools). The good thing is, the kids are better behaved and held more accountable. The bad news is the days are a lot longer than your regular NYC Department of Education Public Schools.

I really like Moore. Think we haven't seen his full potential yet. But if you told me that Allen could come in and be just as good as Moore, I wouldn't be opposed to that. I thought we are looking for a center though, isn't Glencross a winger.

My overall assessment on Sather's first day of Free Agency is not a good one. There are a few plusses; but there are negatives, too.

+'s

D Moore - Good term, good AAV, good player that knows his role = a no brainer great signing

B Poliout - If there is a worse GM in the game over Sather, it's that knucklehead in Edmonton. What do they have? 97 first round draft picks on the team and they still suck? Then sign a guy that nobody really wanted to a 5 year/20M deal? The marijuana in Canada this time of year must be really good. Kudos to Sather for letting this guy walk with that contract. No way he gets more years and dollars than Zucc and/or Brassard. Good for Poliout (how could he not take that deal); bad for EDM.

M Kostka (D from TBL) - Looks like a decent depth move on defense. Or does it spell the end of J Moore? Ok signing.

-'s

D Boyle - Aging at 37 (38 in ten days) and his stats looked rather suspect last season. Fewer minutes, points and worst +/- in a full season since 07-08. He did have 12 goals, so he can still put the puck in the net. Doesn't sound so bad, but a two year deal with a NMC that is rumored to be added to the deal makes this a no-no. All over 35 deals are guaranteed, the NMC is not necessary. Unless your last name is Jagr, I am not signing you to a multi-year deal at 37 (38). Add the $4.5 AAV and the fact you lost half of your second D pairing for about .5M per and the fact that player is ten years younger and proven to do well on your team (if it ain't broke; don't fix it) makes this a bad deal. Yes, D Boyle can make the powerplay better, but that already happened with the release of Brad Richards.

A Stralman - Guy worked hard and earned his contract. Nobody wanted him a few years ago and Torts made him the player he is today. Shame on Sather for letting Stralman walk. Hope this doesn't kill Staal's game. For about half a mil per, I wouldn't have made the risk and would have resigned Stralman for sure.

T Glass - Oops...Term and dollars makes no sense. Sure, you need that "presence" on the ice, but was it necessary to go outside the organization and pay a guy that kind of money? Who does that? Oh yeah...Sather. Perhaps this works out and I hope it does, but for that kind of money, I would have certainly resigned B Boyle in a second. I don't know what R Corsi stats are; I don't care. If it isn't on the back of a hockey card, it isn't important. Let's hope he is an upgrade to D Carcillo; whom I would have been satisfied with.

B Boyle - Another guy that earned his contract, but for what he signed for...(see T Glass). For half a mil per for the same term, B Boyle should be bleeding Blue and not catching a tan with his bud Captain Cally. No loyalty towards the team that made you what you are. His choice words stating he wanted a larger role was filled with more crap than a three month old cat litter box. He knows his role and does it very well. Signing with a team that basically puts him in the same role really tells us all that those choice words he spoke of was his best way of saying goodbye.

The rest of the deals were to fill spots in Hartford Whale Pack (what do they call themselves these days now?).

There are still a few players there to take into consideration. Perhaps a trade is coming to free up cap room? Key RFA's still to resign, so I do not see much more to come. Once Zucc, Brass, Krieder, J Moore, then the rest of the roster may very well be filled with your Lindbergs' Fast's, Millers. I would be okay with that.

Much more okay than today's negative signings. Just my opinion...

Boyle just because the D is still deep but our PK took a big blow, as long as Brass and Zucc are together they can replace Pouliot with either Hags or an FA

I think the lines should be this:

St Louis - Stepan - Nash
(Nash has a set up man by default in St Louis)

Kreider - Brassard - Zucc
(Kreider could make that line a force)

3-Hagelin - Miller/FA - Fast/Kristo/Duclair
4-FA/Kristo/Fast/Moore - Moore/Lindberg - Glass

Our top 6 could be as good as any in the leauge...but the bottom 6 could be one of the worst. It's imperative they get a decent winger or center in here

Either way miller and one of fast Kristo duclair or Lindberg will need to make some kind of impact.

Moore may have to go in the end for a forward and slot Allen or McIlrath or kostka.

If anything Stralman is underrated, some of you guys sound like Sather just pissing on our own players, we'll just see what kind of chemistry the have come This season
- KreiderBomb

Saying Stralman is good but overrated is
Not pissing on him. I like the guy's game but
Just don't think that one solid season necessarily
Justifies 4 years at 4.5 mil.
I like Pouliot as well but sure as hell wouldnt give him
Anything close to what he got from Edmonton. The open
Market is a madhouse of risk taking and doesn't
Represent actual value.
If Stralman was to maintain and improve -even just a little-
His game over the course of the contract it will be worthwhile
But he hasn't done it long enough IMO to pay him that much
Yet. To a degree, Slats even has a point with Zucc who has had
Only One good season thus far.
Does it justify giving him a Big 4 year deal? Personally I love the
Player and his attitude and would Do it but there is a precedent to not
Jumping the gun. Leino?

I knew he was bad but I had no idea he had 0!!!! 0!!!! Goals last season. How is that possible for a forward who played close to 60 games?? By accident you'd think he'd get one. I dunno I find amazing he went goaless

Darroll Powe

EDIT: Played 42 games in shortened season (8-Min, 34-NYR)...ZERO goals...ZERO assists...for ZERO points.

The Rangers drafted Keegan Iverson with the pick they got for Dorsett. As most Rangers fans seem to really like that pick (best of the draft?), I'll take Glass and Iverson for Dorsett.

Sather's biggest job this offseason is signing Kreider and Zuccarello long term; signing Brassard; and possibly, signing Staal and Stepan (and maybe Hagelin) to long term extensions. If the Rangers accomplish those moves and they can get one more NHL forward, I'd consider this free agency period a success.

If they accomplish those re-signings, the core of the team remains intact. As much as I like Brian Boyle and Anton Stralman, they are complementary pieces that can be replaced; maybe, even internally. For his sake, I hope that Pouliot has blossomed but let's see him now without the nurturing of Vigneault and as a main player as opposed to the complementary player he was here.
